Nashville Sounds drop Series Final to Reno Aces 3-2

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Reno Aces used a strong start by Shelby Miller to score a 3-2 win over the Nashville Sounds in front of 5,058 fans Monday night at First Tennessee Park.

The two teams split the four-game series after the Sounds (70-53) won the first two games and the Aces (65-58) returned the favor in the final two.

Miller scattered 10 hits and limited the Sounds to two runs in 7 1/3 innings. He didn’t walk anybody and racked up nine strikeouts in his fourth win with Reno.

All Nine Sounds Hitters Record a Hit, Cody Martin Notches Quality Start

Nashville SoundsReno, NV – The Nashville Sounds hit parade continued on Tuesday night as they out-slugged Reno 7-4 at Aces Ballpark.

The first inning began how many opening frame have started this season for Nashville, the red-hot Joey Wendle smacked his 37th double of the season and came around to score on a Jason Pridie single. The outfielder became the first Sound to hit the 80 RBI plateau on the play.

Reno immediately answered, getting a run on a sacrifice fly by Jamie Romak. The Aces would load the bases, but Sounds’ starter Cody Martin struck Todd Glaesmann out swinging to leave them loaded. Nashville is now outscoring their opponents 80-50 in the opening frame this season.

Brent Morel Stays Hot With Another Multi-Hit Game

Nashville SoundsReno, NV – For the first time since 2013, the Nashville Sounds were defeated by the Reno Aces, falling, 5-4 at Aces Ballpark.

Reno put Nashville starter Zach Neal in a precarious position to start the first inning, placing runners on the corners with no outs for the dangerous Nick Evans. Neal traded the run for a double play, and the Sounds went to the second in a 1-0 hole.

After posting 21 hits the night before, the Sounds picked right up where they left off in the second. Rangel Ravelo singled to lead off the frame and Nate Freiman walked.
