Rossview High School Girls win 10-AAA Golf Title in playoff, Clarksville High Boys roll

 

Rossview High School HawksClarksville High School WildcatsClarksville, TN – Rossview High School girls golf team and Clarksville High School’s boys team took home their respective District 10-AAA tournament titles, September 23rd at Swan Lake Golf Course, with the Lady Hawks outlasting Clarksville High in a playoff – while CHS boys won by 32 shots.

There was little surprise that the Lady Hawks and Lady Wildcats finished in a tie, with team scores of 156, as both squads have been going back-and-fourth against each other in close matches all year long.

Tyler Guy wins Mann Smith & Cummings Tournament of Champions in play-off

 

Mann Smith & Cummings Insurance - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – It took a playoff for a winner to emerge from the eight elite golfers Sunday afternoon in the final round of the Mann, Smith & Cummings Tournament of Champions at Swan Lake Golf Course.

The leaders from the 1st round, two-time former champion Brian Balthrop and UT-Martin standout Tyler Guy, went to extra holes after finishing the two regulation rounds tied at 136. Both hit solid approach shots on the second playoff hole that set up short putts for birdies. However, Balthrop’s putt lipped out and he had to settle for par. Tyler Guy lined seized his opportunity, and after making his birdie putt, the Tournament Championship was his.

Brian Balthrop closes with a round of 68 to take Clarksville Mayor’s Golf Classic by six shots

 

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Shooting a final-round three-under 68, Brian Balthrop broke a three-way tie heading into the round September 15th to run away and take the 34th Mayor’s Golf Classic by a six shot margin.

The victory was the second of the season for Balthrop (71-68—139), who also won the Clarksville City Amateur back in August.

United States Junior Golf Tour at Swan Lake Golf Course greeted with wet, windy conditions

 

United States Junior Golf TourClarksville, TN – Some of the top junior golfers in the south were greeted by wet and windy conditions at Swan Lake Golf Course today as the United States Junior Golf Tour held the first of two events scheduled for Clarksville in 2013.

The tournaments are open to boys and girls ages 8-18, with each age group competing for their division title.

Hunter “Tick” Richardson sets his sights on the Tournament of Champions at Swan Lake Golf Course this weekend

 

Hunter "Tick" RichardsonClarksville, TN – Hunter “Tick” Richardson, all 5’4″, 121lbs of him, is making a name for himself on the Clarksville golf scene.  Winner of last weeks Mayor’s Golf Classic, “Tick” is set to tee it up this weekend in the season ending Tournament of Champions at Swan Lake Golf course.

Hunter Cole Richardson, 16, is the third child of Rick and Betsy Richardson.  Older sisters Ashley Baggett, 32, and Carlee Darnell, 22, cause Hunter to joke, “I was a mistake.  I was an oops baby.”

A junior at Clarksville High School, Hunter plays for the CHS golf team and has his eyes focused on playing in college.  “I definitely want to play college golf.  Beyond that, I don’t know.  There are thousands of kids like me who would want to play for a living one day, but that’s a whole other level of competition” according to Hunter. «Read the rest of this article»

30th Annual Mayor’s Golf Classic

 

Mayors_golf_ClassicThe 30th Annual Mayor’s Golf Classic is set to take place this September 19-20 at Swan Lake Golf Course. This popular golf tournament is a favorite among local golfers and features one of the largest fields of amateur players in the area. The Mayor’s Golf Classic is also the last tournament of the year that offers points for the Local Tournament of Champions.

Registration begins August 10. The deadline to enter the tournament is noon on Thursday, September 17. The tournament is limited to 124 players. The entry fee of $110 includes one practice round at Swan Lake Golf Course on either September 14 through 18 (Practice round must be scheduled at Swan Lake and does not include a golf cart), lunch on both days of the tournament, use of a golf cart, commemorative gifts and the opportunity to win prizes. There will also be a chance to win the hole-in-one prize, a brand new vehicle from Mathews Nissan Suzuki. «Read the rest of this article»

Mayoral Golf Classic coming to Swan Lake

 

The 29th Annual Clarksville Mayor’s Golf Classic will be held on Saturday and Sunday, September 13-14 at Swan Lake Golf Course. This popular golf event annually features one of the largest fields of amateur players in the area and is the last golf event of the year that offers points for the local Tournament of Champions.

The deadline to enter the tournament is noon, Thursday, September 11th. An entry fee of $100 earns the golfer two rounds of golf which includes a practice round at Swan Lake between September 8-12 (cost of cart not included in the practice round); lunch both days, and the opportunity to win cash and prizes.
