APSU Baseball alumnus Tyler Rogers named to Triple-A All-Star Game

APSU BaseballRound Rock, TX – For a second consecutive year, Austin Peay State University (APSU) alumnus Tyler Rogers, a relief pitcher for the Sacramento River Cats, has been named to the Triple-A All-Star Game which will be held July 11th at Huntington Park in Columbus, Ohio.

Rogers is in his third season with the Triple-A River Cats and is again out to an impressive start with a 3-1 record and 1.85 ERA in 30 relief appearances.

Nashville Sounds’ Chad Pinder and Patrick Schuster named to PCL All-Star Team

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Nashville Sounds infielder Chad Pinder and left-handed pitcher Patrick Schuster have been named to the Pacific Coast League All-Star Team as announced by the league today. Both players were selected as reserves.

The 2016 Triple-A All-Star Game is Wednesday, July 13th at 6:05pm CT. The Pacific Coast League All-Stars take on the International All-Stars at BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte, North Carolina. The game will be carried live on ESPN 102.5 The Game and MLB Network.

Pacific Coast League falls 4-3 to International League to win 2015 Triple-A All-Star Game

 

Triple-A All-Star GameOmaha, NB – The International League rallied for three runs in the ninth inning to defeat the Pacific Coast League 4-3 in front of a sellout crowd of 9,023 fans in the First National Bank Triple-A All-Star Game at Werner Park.

The Sounds lone All-Star representative, outfielder Jason Pridie started and played the entire game. The 31-year-old went 2-for 5 on the night, with a pair of singles.

The PCL held a 3-1 advantage heading into the ninth, but with the bases loaded Kyle Roller delivered a two-run single up the middle to even the score. After a pitching change, Lehigh Valley’s Tyler Henson singled home Indianapolis’ Alen Hanson for the go-ahead run.

Nashville Sounds pitcher Jimmy Nelson named Milwaukee Brewers Minor League Pitcher of the Year

 

Jimmy Nelson and Clint Coulter Named Recipients of the Robin Yount Performance Pitcher and Player of the Year Awards, Respectively

Milwaukee BrewersMilwaukee, WI – The Milwaukee Brewers have announced the recipients of the 2014 Robin Yount Performance Awards. Right-handed pitcher Jimmy Nelson was named Brewers Minor League Pitcher of the Year and catcher Clint Coulter was named Brewers Minor League Player of the Year.

Nelson, 25, went 10-2 with a 1.46 ERA in 17 games (16 starts) at Triple-A Nashville, including 114 strikeouts and 32 walks in 111.0 innings. He allowed just three home runs and held opponents to a .179 batting average.

Nashville’s Jason Rogers Goes 3-for-4 With Home Run and Three RBIs

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The first-place Nashville Sounds (51-47) failed to complete a three-game series sweep over the Round Rock Express Sunday night, losing the finale 6-4 at Greer Stadium.

Infielder Jason Rogers powered the Sounds’ offense, going 3-for-4 and delivering the game-tying three-run home run in the 5th inning, but the Sounds would not score again.

Nashville Sounds to begin three game homestand against Round Rock Express Friday night at Greer Stadium

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds continue their #LastCheerAtGreer with their seventh homestand at Greer Stadium, which begins this Friday, July 11th.

The brief three-game homestand welcomes the division-rival Round Rock Express (Texas Rangers affiliate) to Nashville for the first time this season.

Nashville Sounds Pitcher Mike Fiers added to PCL All-Star Roster

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Starting pitcher Mike Fiers was added to the Pacific Coast League All-Star team by the league office and will represent the Nashville Sounds in the Triple-A All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 16th at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, North Carolina.

Fiers holds a 2.63 ERA for 4th best in the PCL and has tossed quality starts in nine of his 13 outings with Nashville. The 29-year-old is holding PCL opponents to a .215 average, which ranks 5th among league hurlers.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Starting pitcher Jimmy Nelson and reliever Donovan Hand have been named to the Pacific Coast League All-Star team and will represent the Sounds on the 30-man squad that takes on the International League stars in the Triple-A All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 16th at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, North Carolina.

Nelson was the top vote-getter among PCL players and will serve as the league’s starting pitcher in the 6:00pm CT contest. Hand was selected as a reserve by the PCL office.

Nashville Sounds begin Four-Game Homestand Thursday, July 11th

 

Featuring 2 Fireworks Shows, 2 Giveaways and the I-40 Cup Series Finale

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN –  The Nashville Sounds return to Greer Stadium on Thursday, July 11th, for their seventh homestand of the season. The stand will feature one four-game series against the cross-state rival Memphis Redbirds (St. Louis Cardinals affiliate) spanning July 11th-14th.

The series will be the finale of the four-part Tennessee Lottery I-40 Cup Series, which is currently knotted at six wins apiece between the two clubs. Whoever wins the most games in the season series will be awarded the silver I-40 Cup. Nashville is the current holder, winning 9-7 in 2012. The Sounds will retain the cup with a season series spilt.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Nashville Pitcher Rob Wooten has been named to the Pacific Coast League All-Star team and will represent the Sounds on the 30-man squad that takes on the International League stars in the Triple-A All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 17th at Aces Ballpark in Reno, Nevada.

Wooten was selected as a reserve for the contest by the PCL office.
