5th Special Forces Group’s 4th Battalion changes command at Fort Campbell

 

5th Special Forces GroupFort Campbell, KY – Soldiers, families and friends with the 4th Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), also known as “Legion,” welcomed their new commander July 17th, 2014.

During a ceremony held here at Gabriel Field, Lt. Col. Joseph Lock relinquished command of the 4th Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) to Lt. Col. Michael Harris.

“I characterize this day as bittersweet, because we’re saying goodbye to the Locks, who are a true Legion power family,” said Col. John W. Brennan, commander of the 5th SFG (A). “It is also sweet today, because we welcome Mike [Lt. Col. Harris] and Bren [spouse of Lt. Col. Harris] into the Legion fold for the very first time.”

Night Stalker, Ranger named USASOC NCO, Soldier of Year

Fort Bragg, NC  – The U.S. Army Special Operations Command announced the winners of its 2010 Soldier and Noncommissioned Officer of the Year Competition in a ceremony June 11th.

Staff Sgt. Jacob Barner, an armament systems repairer who now serves as the enlisted recruiter with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, was chosen as the NCO of the year. Spc. Justin Hinton, from Regimental Special Troops Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, was named the Soldier of the year. Both will be continuing on to represent USASOC in the Department of the Army competition at Fort Lee, VA, later this year. «Read the rest of this article»
