Clarksville, TN – The community spirit that drives United Way’s mission is often reflective of the boundless love and hard work of mothers everywhere.

In celebration of this spirit, United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region and Elliott’s Jewelers partnered to sponsor a Youth Jewelry Design Contest that tributes mothers dedicated to giving a building a better future for their children.

Clarksville Christmas Parade delights young and old alike

 

ChristmasClarksville, TN – It was a beautiful night Saturday for the 58th Annual Clarksville Christmas Parade in Downtown Clarksville. People lined the streets waiting for the start of the parade. Children were excited in anticipation of seeing the floats and Santa Claus.

Austin Peay head football coach Will Healy was the grand marshal. The theme was “Christmas Around the World”.

City of Clarksville staff competes to be Game Changers

 

City Employees have a Field Day to aid United Way Campaign

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – City of Clarksville employees competed Thursday in the Field Day Games as part of the annual United Way “Be a Game Changer” Campaign.

Eight six-member teams from across City Government gathered at the Wilma Rudolph Events Center to battle it out in nine whacky events, including the Ping Pong Shake, Elephant March and Balloon Pop.

Lauren Winters, City United Way Campaign coordinator, Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, and local United Way CEO Ginna Holleman, lead the Field Days Games Thursday as part of the City’s annual United Way Campaign.

Volunteer Clarksville, Hands on Nashville to Honor 9-11 Heroes with Service

 

Hands On ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – For the third consecutive year, Volunteer Clarksville, now a program of the United Way of Clarksville, will commemorate the anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks by providing more than 800 volunteer opportunities through the annual Serve to Remember event.

Volunteers are needed to take part in Serve to Remember’s more than 25 community-enhancing projects, including maintenance work to the Warrior Garden at the Fort Campbell U.S. Army installation, the painting of remembrance tiles by youth and seniors, a ‘pajama drive’ benefitting the Safe House Domestic Violence Shelter, a number of cleanup projects at area parks and nonprofits and more. «Read the rest of this article»

Clarksville Dental Center hosting candy buy back to benefit the United Way

 

clarksvilledentalcenter10th ANNUAL HALLOWEEN “CANDY BUY BACK” to support United Way. Clarksville Dental Center is holding its 10th Annual Candy Buy Back. The doctors at Clarksville Dental Center are offering $1.00 per lb of candy, they will MATCH it with another dollar to be donated to United Way of Clarksville. Candy purchased from the”trick or treaters” will be sent to soldiers stationed overseas. Clarksville to host “Fair Housing” workshop

 

The City of Clarksville Office of Housing and Community Development will host a workshop on Fair Housing at the Customs House Museum on June 23, 2008 from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.

The workshops are offered in partnership with Legal Aid of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands, The Housing Fund, Inc., Greater Nashville Regional Council, The United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Nashville Field Office and the Tennessee Housing Development Agency.

2008 marks the 40th Anniversary of the passage of the Fair Housing Act. But how much do you know about the Act and its impact on your life, your business or your community? What are your rights as a citizen? What are your responsibilities as a landlord? What is the process to file a Fair Housing complaint?
