Nashville Sounds new ballpark named “First Tennessee Park”

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN –  “First Tennessee Park” will be the official name of Nashville’s new state-of-the-art baseball ballpark in North Nashville, the Nashville Sounds Baseball Club announced today.

The new name recognizes First Tennessee Bank as the Sounds’ most significant partner as the team enters a new era of professional baseball in Middle Tennessee. First Tennessee Park is scheduled to open in April 2015.

Nashville Sounds announce National Anthem Auditions

 

Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds will hold tryouts for national anthem singers on Saturday, March 22nd from 9:00am to 2:00pm at Greer Stadium.

All individuals and groups who are interested in singing “The Star Spangled Banner” prior to a 2014 home game must audition on this date, including all parties who have sung prior to a game in previous years.

Anthem tryouts are available on a first-come, first-served basis during the designated time period.

Nashville Sounds announce Rick Sweet as new manager

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds have announced that Rick Sweet will serve as the team’s field manager for the 2014 season.

The 61-year-old Sweet becomes the 25th manager in the Sounds’ 37-year franchise history and will be joined by a returning coaching staff. Coach Bob Skube , pitching coach Fred Dabney, trainer Aaron Hoback, and strength & conditioning specialist Andrew Emmick all were previously announced as returning for another season in Music City in 2014.

Nashville Sounds begin eight game home stand Tuesday, July 30th

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds return to Greer Stadium on Tuesday, July 30th, for their ninth homestand of the season.

The stand is the last to feature eight games, beginning with a four-game series with the Las Vegas 51s (New York Mets affiliate) spanning July 30th-August 2nd, and another with the Tucson Padres (San Diego Padres affiliate).

The homestand will be highlighted by two fireworks shows, two giveaway nights, Star Wars Night and the final BURGER KING Throwback Thursday and Trevecca Nazarene University FAITH NIGHTS.

Nashville Sounds begin home series at Greer Stadium on Monday against Omaha Storm Chasers

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds return to Greer Stadium on Monday, June 10th, for their fifth homestand of the season: an eight-game stretch in which the team welcomes the division-rival Omaha Storm Chasers (Kansas City Royals affiliate) for four games spanning June 10th-13th and the New Orleans Zephyrs (Miami Marlins affiliate) from June 14th-17th.

Highlighting the homestand’s worth of promotions will be two fireworks extravaganzas, two giveaway nights, BURGER KING Throwback Thursday and Trevecca Nazarene University FAITH NIGHT.

Nashville Sounds blanked by New Orleans Zephyrs 12-0

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds held the New Orleans Zephyrs scoreless through five innings, but were unable to contain the visitor’s hot bats, who scored runs in each of the last four frames en route to shutting out the Sounds, 12-0.

The lone bright spot on the night for the Sounds was starting pitcher Hiram Burgos, who picked up where he left off in 2012 by extending his Triple-A scoreless streak to 17 innings across his last three starts, dating back to August 29th. The right-handed pitcher limited the Zephyrs to two hits through five innings of work, fanning six and walking three.

Baseball Returns to Nashville

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds kick off their 36th season this Thursday, April 4th, to begin an eight-game homestand at Greer Stadium.

The team welcomes the New Orleans Zephyrs (Miami Marlins affiliate) for four games spanning April 4th-7th, and the Oklahoma City RedHawks (Houston Astros affiliate) from April 8th-11th.
