Senator Marsha Blackburn Joins Bill to Help Prevent Opioid Addiction

U.S. SenateWashington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) is cosponsoring legislation to decrease barriers to non-opioid pain management for those enrolled in Medicare. Senators Shelly Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Doug Jones (D-Ala.) introduced the Non-Opioids Prevent Addiction in the Nation (NOPAIN) Act in December.

“Combating the opioid epidemic requires a joint effort from federal, state, and local officials, and multiple lines of attack. The NOPAIN Act would incentivize the use of non-opioid therapies in outpatient surgical settings so that Medicare patients have access to pain management without the risk of opioid addiction,” said Senator Blackburn.

AAA reports Low Gas Demand Continues to Push National Average Lower

AAATampa, FL – AAA says that the latest Energy Information Administration (EIA) report measures demand at 8.48 million b/d, which is a slight uptick from the previous week’s 8.39 million b/d.

However, the small increase — likely due to holiday road trips — is still 461,000 b/d lower than last year at this time. Low demand, even as total domestic stocks of gasoline declined to 231.5 million bbl, has helped keep pump prices low.
