LBL to host Choosing and Using Binoculars and Telescopes event

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLLand Between the Lakes, KY/TN – The Golden Pond Planetarium and West Kentucky Amateur Astronomers present Choosing and Using Binoculars and Telescopes following the 5:00pm evening planetarium program Saturday, November 14th, in the Golden Pond Visitor Center. The presentation is free and open to the public.

“This is a perfect opportunity to meet people with similar interests and learn how to use telescopes and binoculars to view the moon and stars. Plenty of experts from the West Kentucky Amateur Astronomers club will be available to offer assistance,” said Planetarium Manager, Rob Milner.

Choosing and Using Binoculars and Telescopes presentation at Land Between the Lakes Saturday, November 8th

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLGolden Pond, KY – The Golden Pond Planetarium and West Kentucky Amateur Astronomers present “Choosing and Using Binoculars and Telescopes” following the 5:30pm planetarium program Saturday, November 8th, in the Golden Pond Visitor Center at Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area.

The presentation is free and open to the public.

This program introduces various binoculars and telescopes, and teaches basic skills required to use them.

Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for July 29th through August 3rd, 2013

 

Dunbar Cave State Park - Clarksville TNClarksville, TNDunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.

Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs this summer. There are programs for children and adults.

Upcoming events include: Beginning Birding, Animals of Port Royal, Morning Nature Hike, Kids Nature Games, Evening Woods Walk and so much more!

NASA says Venus, Jupiter, Mercury to Align in Triple Conjunction in the Sunset Sky May 25th

NASA - National Aeronautics and Space AdministrationWashington, D.C. – Sunset is a special time of day.  Low-hanging clouds glow vivid red and orange as the background sky turns cobalt blue. The first stars pop out in the heavenly dome overhead, eliciting wishes from backyard sky watchers.

The sunset of May 26th will be extra special. On that date, Venus, Jupiter and Mercury will gather in the fading twilight to form a bright triangle only three degrees wide.
