Tennessee Vols Football roars from behind late to beat Indiana at TaxSlayer Gator Bowl

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsJacksonville, FL – A late fourth-quarter charge, where the Vols scored 14 points in the final quarter propelled Tennessee Vols football team to a 23-22 win over Indiana in the 75th TaxSlayer Gator Bowl in TIAA Bank Stadium. 
 
With the victory, UT finishes the season 8-5 overall and 5-3 in the SEC to give second-year head coach Jeremy Pruitt his first bowl win. 
 
Freshman running back Eric Gray scored the game-tying touchdown on second and 10 after recovering an on-side kick to give the Vols the ball back at 46 yard line with 4:19 left on the clock.

Tennessee Vols Football loses to #1 Alabama, 35-13

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsTuscaloosa, AL – Tennessee Vols Football went toe-to-toe with No. 1 Alabama on Saturday night in front of a capacity crowd at Bryant-Denny Stadium, but was plagued by penalties and missed opportunities inside the red zone in a 35-13 loss to the defending SEC champions.

The Vols held the Crimson Tide’s high-powered offense to season lows in points (35), passing yards (233) and total yards (373), but were penalized 13 times for 93 yards and had to settle for field goals twice in the red zone.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee Vols football will look to notch its first SEC win of the year this Saturday as Mississippi State visits Neyland Stadium for a noon kickoff.  

Saturday’s contest will be the first between the Vols and Bulldogs in Knoxville since a 34-3 Tennessee win back in 2008.  

The game will be televised on the SEC Network with Taylor Zarzour (PxP), Matt Stinchcomb (analyst) and Alyssa Lang (sideline) on the call.

Fans can also listen to Tennessee’s radio broadcast on the Vol Network (WIVK-FM 107.7) as well as satellite radio (Sirius Ch. 134, XM Ch. 191, Internet Ch. 962). Bob Kesling (PxP), Tim Priest (analyst) and Brent Hubbs (analyst) will call the action all season long.

Tennessee Vols Football falls at home to #3 Georgia, 42-14

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – The Tennessee Vols football team took a 14-10 second-quarter lead over No. 3 Georgia behind gritty play from true freshman quarterback Brian Maurer before falling, 43-14, in front of a crowd of 92,709 Saturday night at Neyland Stadium.
 
In his first career start for the Vols (1-4/0-2 SEC), Maurer completed 14 of 28 passes for 259 yards and two touchdowns. The Ocala, FL, native connected on 10 of 21 attempts in the first half for 205 yards and two TDs, propelling UT to a four-point lead with 14:57 to go in the second stanza.
