U.S. SenateWashington, D.C. – United States Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) released the following statement today after he voted for and the Senate confirmed Brian Noland to serve on the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Board of Directors:

“Today, the Senate confirmed Brian Noland to serve on the TVA Board of Directors, and I know he will make an outstanding board member. Brian is a respected leader in East Tennessee, and during his tenure as president, he has helped transform Tennessee’s fourth largest university, East Tennessee State University.”

Lamar Alexander: Beth Harwell, Brian Noland “One Step Away” from Being Confirmed to TVA Board of Directors

 

U.S. SenateWashington, D.C. – United States Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) released the following statement today after the nominations of Beth Harwell and Brian Noland to serve on the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Board of Directors were approved by the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works.

“TVA is a big and important institution. It is a $10 billion a year business. It serves the residents of seven states by providing cheap, reliable electricity,” Senator Alexander said.

Lamar Alexander: Tennessee University Presidents are working overtime to go back to school in August, go back safely

 

U.S. SenateWashington, D.C. – The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has announced additional federal funding this week for Tennessee. More than $7 million is now headed to 143 rural health clinics across Tennessee to help expand access to COVID-19 Coronavirus testing in rural communities.

Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam announces FOCUS Act Transition Task Force

 

Tennessee, higher education leaders to provide guidance on Drive to 55 alignment plan

State of TennesseeNashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam today announced the members of the transition task force to offer guidance on the proposed Focus On College and University Success (FOCUS) Act during the legislative process and potential implementation if approved by the Tennessee General Assembly.

Comprised of higher education leaders and professionals, the transition task force will have two components: a steering committee to provide high level implementation guidance to the governor and a working group that will offer technical assistance and report back to the steering committee.
