Nashville SoundsRound Rock, TX – The Nashville Sounds’ batters hit the ball high while starting pitcher Eric Jokisch kept it low en route to a 4-2 win over the Round Rock Express.

The Sounds belted three solo home runs within the first two innings while Jokish induced 11 ground outs on the night. Jokisch was economical on the mound as he needed just 72 pitches, 55 of which were strikes, to get through six innings. The lone blemish on the night for the southpaw was a leadoff home run in the sixth inning to Christian Lopes.

Dustin Fowler got the night started by yanking a solo home run down the right field line in the first inning.

Nashville Sounds fall to New Orleans Baby Cakes 3-2 at First Tennessee Park

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds dropped their third straight game in a 3-2 decision to the New Orleans Baby Cakes in front of a sellout crowd of 10,439 fans at First Tennessee Park Friday night.

Eric Jokisch delivered a quality start but the Sounds’ offense never materialized against three New Orleans hurlers. Jokisch tossed six innings and allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits. It was his eighth quality start of the season.

Two of the runs allowed by Jokisch came in the first inning to give the Baby Cakes a 2-0 lead. Chris Bostick’s sacrifice fly started the scoring and Peter O’Brien’s run-scoring single gave New Orleans a two-run advantage.

Nashville Sounds get 4-2 win over Sacramento River Cats

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds topped the Sacramento River Cats, 4-2, Tuesday night and finished off a perfect 7-0 homestand in front of 8,412 fans at First Tennessee Park. The win extended Nashville’s winnings streak to a season-high nine games.

Boog Powell and Steve Lombardozzi started the scoring right away in the first inning for Nashville. Powell singled to left and Lombardozzi walked to start the rally. Anthony Garcia put the first run on the board with a double down the left field line. Two batters later, Sheldon Neuse singled to right-center, bringing in Lombardozzi to give the Sounds an early 2-0 lead.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds got five shutout innings from 20-year-old Jesus Luzardo to help extend their winning streak to eight games with a 6-0 win over the Sacramento River Cats Monday night at First Tennessee Park.

In his Triple-A debut, Luzardo scattered eight hits, all singles, and struck out six. He threw 52 of his 76 pitches for strikes.

The lefty received early run support in the first inning when Boog Powell, Steve Lombardozzi and Anthony Garcia collected base hits. Garcia’s line drive up the middle plated Lombardozzi to give the Sounds a 1-0 lead.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds continued their winning ways Saturday night as they upended the Sacramento River Cats 3-1 in front of 10,811 fans at First Tennessee Park. The Sounds have now won six games in a row to set a new season-long winning streak.

Chris Bassitt put in a sterling effort on the mound for the Sounds as the right-hander matched a career-high by spinning eight innings of one-run baseball. He yielded just three hits and fanned six in his eight innings of work.

Nashville SoundsSalt Lake City, UT – Ramon Laureano and Franklin Barreto each homered, but the Nashville Sounds never enjoyed a lead and saw a ninth-inning rally fall short in an 8-6 loss to the Salt Lake Bees at Smith’s Ballpark on Friday night. The Sounds have dropped three consecutive games and are 5-13 on the year against Pacific Conference teams.

The Sounds trailed 8-2 after five innings but fought back. In the sixth, Bruce Maxwell drew a bases-loaded walk, and Jorge Mateo delivered a sacrifice fly to cut it to 8-4. Then in the ninth BJ Boyd’s RBI grounder and Barreto’s run-scoring single pulled the Sounds within 8-6.

Nashville SoundsLas Vegas, NV – The Nashville Sounds were done in by a five-run first inning and failed to capitalize on chances late as they fell to the Las Vegas 51s 8-5 Thursday night at Cashman Field. The 51s took the three-game series two games to one.

The Sounds found themselves in a deep hole after just one inning as the 51s sent all nine batters to the plate and scored five runs in the opening frame. Peter Alonso drove in a pair with a base hit, Dominic Smith doubled the Las Vegas lead with a two-run blast, and Patrick Kivlehan scored on an error by third baseman Sheldon Neuse.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds and Oklahoma City Dodgers split a doubleheader in front of a sellout crowd 11,130 fans at First Tennessee Park Saturday night.

After falling 6-1 in game one, the Sounds returned the favor with a 4-0 win in game two. Liam Hendriks, Dean Kiekhefer, Ryan Dull and Josh Lucas combined to shut out the Dodgers on five hits.

Hendriks started for the first time this year and tossed two innings before being relieved by Kiekhefer. The southpaw tossed three scoreless innings and picked up his sixth win of the season. Dull struck out the side in the sixth before handing it over to Lucas who finished the win.

The last eight games between the Sounds and Dodgers have been decided by one run.

After the Dodgers posted three runs in the eighth inning, the Sounds used a three-run rally of their own in the ninth inning to push the game to extras.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds used a four-run sixth inning to top the Omaha Storm Chasers, 4-2, in front of 9,639 fans at First Tennessee Park Thursday night.

Trailing 2-0 going into the bottom of the sixth inning, Nashville sent nine hitters to the plate in the comeback. The one-out rally started when Beau Taylor walked, and Anthony Garcia doubled down the left field line.

Bruce Maxwell’s second hit of the game made it a 2-1 game and Sheldon Neuse delivered another run-scoring single to draw the Sounds even at 2-2. BJ Boyd followed with a base hit, the fifth straight Sound to reach safely.
