Nashville, TN – A late lead didn’t hold up for the Nashville Sounds in a heart-breaking 10-9 loss to the Oklahoma City Dodgers Sunday night at First Tennessee Park.
The loss ends the Sounds’ season while the Dodgers advance to the Pacific Coast League Championship Series to face the El Paso Chihuahuas.
Two separate four-run innings helped the Sounds overcome multiple deficits but it wasn’t enough in the end. Franklin Barreto, Matt Olson and Renato Nunez all crushed homers for Nashville.
Oklahoma City, OK – The Oklahoma City Dodgers got home runs from O’Koyea Dickson and Jack Murphy in a series-tying 5-2 win over the Nashville Sounds Thursday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
The homers backed a strong performance by Dodgers’ starter Logan Bawcom who limited the Sounds to one run on three hits in six innings.
Nashville’s lone run against Bawcom came right away in the first inning. Franklin Barreto sparked a rally with a one-out double to the gap in right-center.
Oklahoma City, OK – Renato Nunez knocked in five runs for the Nashville Sounds in a thrilling 10-7 win over the Oklahoma City Dodgers in game one of the American Conference Finals Wednesday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
Nashville raced out to a 6-0 lead thanks in part to a three-run homer from Nunez in the opening frame. They chased rehabbing Scott Kazmir from the game after the southpaw hit two batters, walked a pair and allowed the home run.
Nashville, TN – Friday night’s game between the Nashville Sounds and New Orleans Zephyrs has been cancelled due to rain at Zephyrs Park in New Orleans.
The two teams played into the top of the third inning before rain brought the game to a halt. The lone run scored came in the second when Bryan Anderson’s sacrifice fly brought home Renato Nunez to give the Sounds a 1-0 lead.
With the regular season coming to an end Monday, the game will not be resumed and official statistics from tonight’s game will not count.
Nashville, TN – Franklin Barreto’s RBI triple scored Josh Rodriguez in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Nashville Sounds a 6-5 walk-off win over the Iowa Cubs in front of 8,002 fans Thursday night at First Tennessee Park.
With the game tied 5-5 going to the bottom of the ninth, Rodriguez lined a base hit up the middle to start the rally against Iowa reliever Gerardo Concepcion. After a failed bunt attempt, the 20-year-old Barreto lined a 0-2 pitch to the gap in right-center. Rodriguez raced around from first to score the winning run.
Nashville, TN – Daniel Gossett tossed seven strong innings and the Nashville Sounds drilled three home runs in an 8-2 win over the Iowa Cubs in front of 6,384 fans Tuesday night at First Tennessee Park.
Fresh off a promotion from Double-A Midland, Gossett allowed two runs on six hits in his Sounds (82-56) and Triple-A debut. He retired eight of the final nine batters he faced and threw 91 pitches on the night.
After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the second inning, Nashville blasted three homers to back Gossett’s performance. Matt Chapman, Matt Olson and Bryan Anderson all homered in the win.
Papillin, NB – The Nashville Sounds got four hits from Joey Wendle and scored seven runs in the fourth inning on their way to a 12-3 rout of the Omaha Storm Chasers Monday night at Werner Park.
The big win, coupled with New Orleans’ loss, has lowered the Sounds’ magic number to five. At 75-55, Nashville is 20 games over .500, the high-water mark of the season. The win was Nashville’s 42nd of the season on the road – a PCL-era best for the Sounds.
Wendle’s four hits matched a season high, and the Sounds got three hits from Rangel Ravelo and Josh Rodriguez while Matt Chapman homered and Jaycob Brugman belted his second three-run homer in as many days.
Papillion, NB – Jaycob Brugman delivered a tie-breaking two-run double in the top of the ninth inning to send the Nashville Sounds to an 8-6 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers Saturday night at Werner Park.
Brugman’s clutch hit finished off a 3-for-4 night in which he drove three runs and scored another. Josh Rodriguez helped the cause with a 3-for-3 night with three runs scored. The two also combined to draw four walks.
At 73-55, the Sounds’ magic number is at eight with 16 games to play. They lead second-place New Orleans by nine games in the American Southern Division standings.
Taijuan Walker Throws 6 1/3 Scoreless Innings for Tacoma
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth but the rally came up short in a 6-4 loss to the Tacoma Rainiers Thursday night in front of 8,182 fans at First Tennessee Park.
Trailing 6-0 going into the ninth, the Sounds rallied and eventually put the winning run on base. Joey Wendle started the outburst with a one-out single. Matt McBride followed with a single of his own before Colin Walsh scored both with a double down the left field line to trim the deficit to 6-2.
Nashville, TN – Joey Wendle hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the sixth inning to lead the Nashville Sounds to a 5-2 win over the Tacoma Rainiers Wednesday afternoon at First Tennessee Park.
The win vaulted Nashville past Tacoma for the best record in the Pacific Coast League at 72-53. Entering play later tonight around the league, the Sounds’ magic number is at nine to clinch the American Southern Division.
Wendle 12th homer of the season came on the first pitch he saw from Tacoma starter Jarrett Grube. Trailing 2-1 entering the bottom of the sixth, Jaycob Brugman singled and Renato Nunez walked to put a pair of runners on for Wendle who hit it to the opposite field.
