Nashville Sounds fall at Tacoma Rainiers, 3-1

Nashville SoundsTacoma, WA – The Nashville Sounds were unable to complete their first series sweep of the season Monday afternoon losing 3-1 to the Tacoma Rainiers at Cheney Stadium.

Nashville trailed 1-0 in the top of the eighth inning when a series of odd events helped them even the game. Four consecutive Sounds reached base without the benefit of a base hit. Andy Ibanez was hit by a pitch, Patrick Wisdom and Chase d’Arnaud drew walks to load the bases, and Tyler Pill was hit by a pitch to force in Ibanez from third to tie the game at 1-1.

The Sounds, now 3-3 on their road trip, again got early home runs for a lead they never gave away. Nashville Sounds loses to Tacoma Rainiers 9-2

Nashville Sounds

Nashville SoundsTacoma, WA – The Tacoma Rainiers scored a pair of runs in the opening inning and never looked back in a 9-2 win over the Nashville Sounds Wednesday night at Cheney Stadium.

Tacoma first baseman Dan Vogelbach drilled an opposite field two-run homer off Nashville starter Frankie Montas in the first inning to start the scoring for the Rainiers.

Nashville managed hits in each of the first three innings but came away with only one run. Franklin Barreto’s first inning double, and Yairo Munoz’s second inning single went for naught as Tacoma starter Sam Gaviglio worked around both in his first two frames.

Nashville Sounds beat Tacoma Rainiers 6-3

Nashville Sounds

Nashville SoundsTacoma, WA – For the second straight day nine innings were not enough to decide a winner between the Nashville Sounds and Tacoma Rainiers. Tuesday, however, it was the Sounds who came out victorious with a 6-3 win.

A three-run top of the 10th inning helped the Sounds escape Tuesday’s matinee in Tacoma 6-3 over the Rainiers. Joey Wendle’s 99th career double for the Sounds put them in front 4-3. The Sounds then tacked on two more runs on a Kenny Wilson single to give Raul Alcantara some breathing room.

Tacoma’s Taylor Motter proved to be a tough out in the late stages of the ball game for the second straight game.

Nashville Sounds

Nashville SoundsTacoma, WA – Zach Shank delivered the knockout punch with a walk-off double in the bottom of the 12th inning to give the Tacoma Rainiers an 8-7 win over the Nashville Sounds Monday night at Cheney Stadium.

Shank’s game-winner off Sounds reliever Lou Trivino ended the 5-hour, 8-minute marathon that featured 12 pitchers, 21 walks, 20 hits, and 20 strikeouts between the two teams.

The bottom of the 12th started when Trivino issued a leadoff walk to Kyle Waldrop. He moved to second when Danny Muno drew a free pass to put runners at first and second. The walks came back to hurt when Shank lined a 1-2 pitch into right field to chase home Waldrop with the winning run.

Nashville Sounds get win over Reno Aces

Nashville Sounds

Nashville SoundsReno, NV – The Nashville Sounds offense cooled off Sunday afternoon but savvy defense, opportunistic base running, and Mother Nature propelled them to a 5-4 victory over the Reno Aces. The win clinched a series victory for the Sounds who won just one series in both June and July.

Nashville was clinging to a 5-4 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth inning when the skies opened up. Greater Nevada Field became so saturated with water that the tarp stuck to the ground and was unable to be pulled all the way over the infield. Following a lengthy delay the umpires deemed the field unplayable and awarded the victory to the Sounds.
