Nashville Sounds pull out Ninth Inning win over Oklahoma City Dodgers

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – For the second straight night, the Nashville Sounds walked off on the Oklahoma City Dodgers in the bottom of the ninth inning to score a win at First Tennessee Park. Jaff Decker raced home from third on a throwing error by Oklahoma City’s Max Muncy to give the Sounds a 5-4 win in front of 9,407 fans Sunday night.

With the game square at 4-4 in the bottom of the ninth, Decker’s two-out base hit sparked the game-winning rally. The speedy center fielder swiped second base and moved to third on Ross Stripling’s wild pitch.

Nashville Sounds has Three Players Join Pitching Coach Rick Rodriguez on PCL Squad

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Nashville Sounds infielder Renato Nuñez and right-handed pitchers Paul Blackburn and Chris Smith have been named to the Pacific Coast League All-Star Team as announced by the league today.

The 2017 Triple-A All-Star Game is scheduled for Wednesday, July 12th, 2017 at 8:00pm CST. The Pacific Coast League All-Stars take on the International League All-Stars at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma, Washington. The game will be carried live on ALT 97.5 FM and televised on MLB Network.

Nashville Sounds fall to late Round Rock Express rally

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Round Rock Express scored a pair of runs in the ninth inning en route to a 6-4 win over the Nashville Sounds in front of 9,431 fans Tuesday night at First Tennessee Park.

With the game even at 4-4 in the top of the ninth, Round Rock’s Travis Snider delivered a two-out, two-run double to give the Express a 6-4 lead, and eventual win.

Sounds (37-40) closer Jake Sanchez retired the first two batters of the inning. Back-to-back two-out knocks by Brett Nicholas and Ryan Rua set the stage for Snider who rifled a pitch from Sanchez down the left field line.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds got home runs from Renato Nuñez and Matt McBride, and a solid start from Paul Blackburn in a 5-3 win over the Round Rock Express in front of 7,975 fans Monday night at First Tennessee Park.

The win over the American Southern Division rival snapped a four-game losing streak and kept the Sounds (37-39) in second place.

Nuñez’s homer came in the first inning and was a two-run shot. It was his league-leading 20th long ball of the season and gave Nashville an early 2-0 advantage.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The New Orleans Baby Cakes swept the Nashville Sounds in a doubleheader in front of 7,977 fans at First Tennessee Park Monday night. The Sounds’ offense was shut out in both games and collected a total of just six hits.

The doubleheader was made up as part of the suspended game from April 30th between the two teams. When play resumed on Monday, the score was 0-0 in the top of the fourth inning.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Iowa Cubs sent 12 to the plate in a six-run seventh inning en route to an 8-4 win over the Nashville Sounds in front of 8,771 fans at First Tennessee Park Tuesday night.

The Sounds (32-30) built an early 4-0 lead behind another strong start by Chris Smith only to see it erased when the bullpen faltered.

Renato Nuñez provided some early fireworks when he launched his Pacific Coast League-leading 18th home run of the season in the bottom of the second inning.

Nashville Sounds’ Chris Smith Named PCL Pitcher of the Week

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Pacific Coast League announced today that Nashville Sounds’ pitcher Chris Smith has been named PCL Pitcher of the Week for his performance from June 5th-11th.

Smith, 36, pitched six no-hit innings in the Sounds four-pitcher no-hitter against the Omaha Storm Chasers on June 7th. The right-hander issued two walks and struck out four in Nashville’s 4-0 win.

The no-hitter was the seventh in the 40-year history of Nashville Sounds Baseball, and first since Manny Parra tossed a perfect game against Round Rock Express on June 25th, 2007.

Nashville Sounds fall in extra innings to Memphis Redbirds, 10-9

Nashville SoundsMemphis, TN – The Memphis Redbirds scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the 12th inning and outlasted the Nashville Sounds, 10-9, Sunday afternoon at AutoZone Park. Sunday’s win secured the series for Memphis, and gave them a five-game lead over Nashville in the American Southern Division standings.

Breyvic Valera was the hero when his base hit up the middle scored Wilfredo Tovar with the winning run with just one out in the 12th inning.

The knock came just moments after the Sounds (32-29) took a 9-8 lead on Matt Chapman’s 16th home run of the season – a solo shot in the top of the 12th that broke the tie. Chapman’s blast extended his hitting streak to a career-long 10 games.

Nashville Sounds keep Omaha Storm Chasers hit-less in 4-0

Nashville SoundsPapillion, NB – The Nashville Sounds made history Wednesday night by no-hitting the Omaha Storm Chasers. A combined effort from Chris Smith, Sean Doolittle, Tucker Healy, and Simon Castro got the job done for the Sounds in their 4-0 victory. It was the seventh no-hitter thrown in club history and first since Manny Parra’s perfect game in 2007.

Smith, the Sounds starter, cruised through the first six innings, allowing just two base runners via base on balls. He then handed the ball off to Doolittle who is with the club on a Major League rehab assignment. Doolittle needed just 12 pitches to retire the three Storm Chasers he faced including two punch outs.

Healy came on in the eighth inning and sat the three Omaha hitters he saw down in order on a mere nine pitches.

Nashville Sounds blasts four homers in 7-3 win over Omaha Storm Chasers

Nashville SoundsPapillion, NE – The Nashville Sounds hit back-to-back home runs two different times en route to a 7-3 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers Tuesday afternoon at Werner Park.

Right fielder Jaff Decker was in on both in his sixth multi-homer game of his career. With Omaha leading 1-0 in the top of the second, Decker belted a home run to left field just moments after Matt Chapman drew a walk. Decker’s first long ball of the season gave Nashville (30-26) the lead for good at 2-1.

On the very next pitch from Omaha starter Josh Staumont, Matt McBride clobbered a solo homer to deep left field to extend the lead to 3-1.
