Nashville Sounds split doubleheader against San Antonio Missions at First Tennessee Park

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds beat the San Antonio Missions in game one 3-1 and lost game two 6-0 in front of 8821 fans at First Tennessee Park Sunday.

Both teams stayed scoreless in game one through the fourth inning. San Antonio threatened for the first time in the top half with runners on first and third base with one out. Nashville’s starter Ariel Jurado managed to get out of the inning with an inning ending double play.

The Missions scored the first run of the game when Mauricio Dubon hit an RBI double to score Nate Orf. Dubon tried scoring on a single by Cory Spangenberg but Zack Granite threw Orf out at the plate to keep the score 1-0.

Nashville Sounds defeat Colorado Sky Sox 4-2 Tuesday night

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds edged the Colorado Springs Sky Sox 4-2 Tuesday night after an hour and ten minute rain delay to start the game.

Chris Bassitt had arguably his strongest outing of the season on the mound for the Sounds. He fanned two batters in each of his first three innings and finished his night with a season-high seven punch outs. In five innings of work allowed just one run on six hits.

The Sounds took advantage of Sky Sox starter Corbin Burnes’ inability to find the strike zone in the fourth inning. Burnes walked BJ Boyd and Franklin Barreto to start the inning, then retired the next two batters.

Nashville Sounds take on New Orleans Zephyrs Friday night at First Tennessee Park.

Nashville Sounds start homestand with 5-4 win over Colorado Springs Sky Sox

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Ramon Laureano put together a perfect night at the plate to lead the Nashville Sounds to a 5-4 win over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox in front of 6,321 fans at First Tennessee Park Monday night.

The right fielder began the season on the disabled list after suffering an injury in spring training. Laureano hit a sacrifice fly in the second inning, singled and scored a run in the fourth, and belted a solo homer in the sixth.

Laureano’s sacrifice fly opened the scoring and was quickly followed by Sheldon Neuse’s run-scoring double to give Nashville a 2-0 lead.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds jumped out to an 8-0 lead after the first inning and held off the Colorado Springs Sky Sox en route to a 12-7 win Thursday night.

Anthony Garcia led the way offensively for the Sounds with five RBI. The right fielder picked up a two-run single in the first, belted a two-run homer in the fourth, and recorded a sacrifice fly in the eighth.

The Sounds built a large cushion with an offensive explosion in the first inning. Nashville sent 12 batters to the plate and tallied eight runs on nine hits to put the game out of reach.

Nashville Sounds get 7-2 home win against New Orleans Baby Cakes

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds closed their homestand with a 7-2 win over the New Orleans Baby Cakes in front of a sellout crowd of 10,128 fans at First Tennessee Park Sunday afternoon.

Dustin Fowler led a balanced attack at the plate with a 3-for-4 game. The center fielder doubled and scored a run in the fourth, tripled and scored a run in the fifth, and blasted a two-run homer to give the Sounds a 7-2 lead in the seventh.

Franklin Barreto, Beau Taylor and Jorge Mateo also had multi-hit games for the Sounds. Fowler and Barreto got the scoring started in the fourth on back-to-back extra-base hits.
