Jacksonville, AL – Despite a record-setting performance by Jake Ryan, Austin Peay State University could not stave off a Jacksonville State comeback as it fell to the Gamecocks, 38-23, Saturday in Ohio Valley Conference play at JSU Stadium.
APSU fell to 1-9 on the season, 0-7 in the OVC while Jacksonville State Improved to 6-4 and ended OVC play at 5-3.

Clarksville, TN – No. 10 Jacksonville State took advantage of six Austin Peay State University turnovers, returning three for touchdowns, as it defeated the Governors, 44-14, in Ohio Valley Conference football action, Saturday night, in Governors Stadium.
The victory was the Govs second straight and dropped them to 2-2 in the OVC and 2-4 overall. It also was the Govs’ first 2011 home loss after earlier wins against Eastern Kentucky and Tennessee State.

Clarksville, TN – When Austin Peay defeated Tennessee State, 37-34, it allowed the Govs to open 2-0 in the OVC for the first time since 1977.
When APSU rallied from being down 27-6 to be at Tennessee State, October 1st, that 21-point deficit was the largest overcome by the Governors in school history. The previous largest deficit was 17 points, October 28th, 1978, when the Governors rallied from a 17-0 deficit to defeat Middle Tennessee, 28-17.
After owning a school-record 26 seniors in 2009, the Govs had half that many (13) in 2010. This season the Govs have even fewer, eight.

Jackson, TN – Starter Jack Snodgrass struck out a career-high 11 batters and Austin Peay State University’s baseball team took advantage of two ninth-inning errors to pull off a 4-1 victory against Jacksonville State, Friday night, at the Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Championship at Pringles Park.
The contest got started as a pitcher’s duel with neither team plating a run through the first 6½ innings – the longest scoreless start to an OVC Tournament game since 2001.

Clarksville, TN – Since rejoining the Ohio Valley Conference the Governors own a 0-3 record against Jacksonville State, including last season’s 28-10 loss in Clarksville.
Austin Peay enters the contest on a three-game losing streak. The Govs have endured at least a three-game losing streak in seven of the last eight seasons.
Jacksonville State currently is ranked No. 3 in both Football Championship Subdivision major polls (The Sports Network/Fathead.com and FCS Coaches Poll). The No. 3 ranking is the highest for JSU since moving up to Division I-AA/FCS in 1995.
