Nashville SoundsOklahoma City, OK – The Nashville Sounds stranded a season-high 13 runners on base and went 0-for-14 with runners in scoring position as they dropped their road trip finale to the Oklahoma City Dodgers 11-2 Sunday afternoon.

A pitching duel was brewing through the first three innings but the Oklahoma City Dodgers scored in each of the middle three innings while the Sounds squandered their chances to light up the scoreboard. The Sounds left the bases loaded in both the fifth and seventh innings and went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts with the all three bases occupied.

Nashville Sounds shoot down Memphis Redbirds, 7-4

Nashville SoundsMemphis, TN – The Nashville Sounds jumped out to a 6-0 lead and held on to defeat the Memphis Redbirds 7-4 Tuesday afternoon. The win secured the series victory for the Sounds over the first-place Redbirds.

Daniel Gossett lowered his league-leading ERA to 1.63 with another stellar performance Tuesday afternoon. He recorded his second quality start of the season with six shutout innings of two-hit baseball while fanning seven batters.

The only real danger he found himself in came in the fourth inning when Luke Voit doubled to lead off the frame and reached third base on a wild pitch. Gossett stranded Voit at third by drawing a fly out and striking out a pair of batters.

Nashville Sounds come out swinging in 12-7 win over Colorado Springs Sky Sox

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds jumped out to an 8-0 lead after the first inning and held off the Colorado Springs Sky Sox en route to a 12-7 win Thursday night.

Anthony Garcia led the way offensively for the Sounds with five RBI. The right fielder picked up a two-run single in the first, belted a two-run homer in the fourth, and recorded a sacrifice fly in the eighth.

The Sounds built a large cushion with an offensive explosion in the first inning. Nashville sent 12 batters to the plate and tallied eight runs on nine hits to put the game out of reach.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Colorado Springs Sky Sox took advantage of two Nashville Sounds errors and grabbed a 6-5 win at First Tennessee Park Wednesday night.

Home runs by Nick Martini and Anthony Garcia, along with a strong performance by starter Frankie Montas helped the Sounds build a 5-2 lead through six innings. 

The wheels fell off in the seventh as Colorado Springs started the inning with three consecutive hits. The third hit of the inning was a run-scoring double by Nate Orf to trim Nashville’s lead to 5-3. Keon Broxton followed with a fly ball down the right field line that was dropped by Garcia. Another run scored to make it a 5-4 game.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Josh Phegley’s second three-hit night in his last three games and Daniel Gossett’s mastery on the mound lifted the Nashville Sounds past the Memphis Redbirds 4-2 Saturday night. Phegley drove in two of the Sounds’ four runs for his third multi-RBI game of the season.

Gossett was superb in his piggy back role of Chris Bassitt for the Sounds. Bassitt started for the Sounds and allowed a run on five hits in his two innings of work. Gossett took over in the third inning and turned in seven solid innings for his second win of season. He fanned a season-high nine batters while scattering five hits.

Nashville Sounds beat Memphis Redbirds 3-1 at First Tennessee Park

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Frankie Montas went six solid innings and Anthony Garcia knocked in a pair of runs to lead the Nashville Sounds to a 3-1 win over the Memphis Redbirds in front of 9,259 fans at First Tennessee Park Friday night.

Montas earned his first win of the season and went six innings for the first time since 2015. The right-hander allowed a second inning home run to Adolis Garcia but settled in. He scattered six hits and finished his night by striking out Patrick Wisdom to end the sixth.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the third, the Sounds got a big two-out hit from Slade Heathcott to even the game at 1-1. With Nick Martini at third, Heathcott lined a base hit through the left side.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds closed their homestand with a 7-2 win over the New Orleans Baby Cakes in front of a sellout crowd of 10,128 fans at First Tennessee Park Sunday afternoon.

Dustin Fowler led a balanced attack at the plate with a 3-for-4 game. The center fielder doubled and scored a run in the fourth, tripled and scored a run in the fifth, and blasted a two-run homer to give the Sounds a 7-2 lead in the seventh.

Franklin Barreto, Beau Taylor and Jorge Mateo also had multi-hit games for the Sounds. Fowler and Barreto got the scoring started in the fourth on back-to-back extra-base hits.

New Orleans opened the scoring in the first frame as Magneuris Sierra ripped a one-out triple into the right center field gap. He came around to score on an RBI ground out from Eric Campbell.

The Baby Cakes added a pair of runs in the top of the second. Sounds starter Frankie Montas retired the first two batters of the frame before a pair of two-out walks proved costly.

Nashville SoundsPapillion, NE – The Nashville Sounds wrapped up their six-game road trip with a 4-3 victory over the Omaha Storm Chasers Monday afternoon. Sounds starter Daniel Gossett earned his first win of the season with a quality start while three Sounds batters recorded multi-hit games.

The Sounds drew first blood by plating a pair of runs in the top of the second inning. Josh Phegley and Nick Martini recorded back-to-back run-scoring doubles to spot Gossett a 2-0 lead. The advantage was short-lived as the Storm Chasers erased the two-run deficit with a pair of runs of their own in the second inning.

Nashville SoundsPapillion, NE – The Nashville Sounds were edged by the Omaha Storm Chasers 4-1 in Sunday’s matinee. The victory clinched the three-game series for Omaha.

Nashville’s Frankie Montas and Omaha’s Clay Bucholz went toe-to-toe on the mound as they both cruised through the first five innings without allowing a run. Omaha finally broke the seal on the scoreless ball game in the sixth inning. After inducing a fly out to begin the inning, Montas yielded a single to Logan Moon and walked Ramon Torres before being pulled from the game.
