Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds came out on the wrong end of a 2-1 score Sunday night against the Memphis Redbirds in front of a season-high 11,692 fans at First Tennessee Park.

Nashville’s Eric Jokisch and Memphis’ Jake Woodford battled it out on the mound as both starters looked sharp. For Woodford it was his first start in his last six in which he allowed fewer than four runs. He gave up just one run on three hits in six innings. He struck out the side in the first inning and did not record another strikeout in his final five frames.

Nashville Sounds lose to Memphis Redbirds 8-1 at First Tennessee Park

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Adam Wainwright tossed five shutout innings to lead the Memphis Redbirds to an 8-1 win over the Nashville Sounds in front of 9,956 fans at First Tennessee Park Saturday night.

In his second Major League rehab start against the Sounds in less than a week, Wainwright scattered five hits, walked two and struck out seven in the winning effort. Wainwright was in a jam in the bottom of the fifth when Nashville loaded the bases against the veteran right-hander but he struck out Jorge Mateo to end the threat.

Memphis grabbed a 3-0 lead in the third with five hits off Nashville starter Raul Alcantara. Wilfredo Tovar started the scoring with a two-run single and Lane Thomas bounced into a fielder’s choice to knock in another run.

Nashville Sounds rally to beat New Orleans Baby Cakes in extra innings, 7-3

Nashville SoundsNew Orleans, LA – The Nashville Sounds scored one run in the ninth and four in the tenth to stun the New Orleans Baby Cakes with a come-from-behind 7-3 win Tuesday night at Shrine on Airline.

Trailing 3-2 in the top of the ninth, Anthony Garcia launched a solo homer off Nick Wittgren to even the game at 3-3. It was Garcia’s second solo blast of the game – his third multi-homer game of the season.

After Liam Hendriks worked his way out of a jam to put up a zero in the bottom of the ninth, Nashville’s offense exploded in the tenth to take control of the game.

Memphis Redbirds shut out Nashville Sounds, 2-0

Nashville SoundsMemphis, TN – The Nashville Sounds managed only four hits in a 2-0 loss to the Memphis Redbirds Monday night at AutoZone Park. With the win in the series finale, the Redbirds took three of four from the Sounds.

Dustin Fowler doubled in the first inning off Memphis starter Adam Wainwright, but that was the last extra-base hit of the night for Nashville. Jorge Mateo and Boog Powell collected singles in the third inning, and Franklin Barreto singled in the ninth.

Nashville SoundsRound Rock, TX – The Nashville Sounds’ batters hit the ball high while starting pitcher Eric Jokisch kept it low en route to a 4-2 win over the Round Rock Express.

The Sounds belted three solo home runs within the first two innings while Jokish induced 11 ground outs on the night. Jokisch was economical on the mound as he needed just 72 pitches, 55 of which were strikes, to get through six innings. The lone blemish on the night for the southpaw was a leadoff home run in the sixth inning to Christian Lopes.

Dustin Fowler got the night started by yanking a solo home run down the right field line in the first inning.

Nashville SoundsRound Rock, TX – A four-run first inning helped the Round Rock Express top the Nashville Sounds, 7-4, Wednesday night at Dell Diamond. The Sounds have lost six of their last seven games since the 15-game winning streak.

The big inning for the Express came just after the Sounds started the game with a three-run top of the first. After Dustin Fowler reached on a two-out error, Anthony Garcia started the scoring with an RBI double down the left-field line. Moments later, Franklin Barreto clubbed a two-run homer to give the Sounds an early 3-0 lead.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds dropped their third straight game in a 3-2 decision to the New Orleans Baby Cakes in front of a sellout crowd of 10,439 fans at First Tennessee Park Friday night.

Eric Jokisch delivered a quality start but the Sounds’ offense never materialized against three New Orleans hurlers. Jokisch tossed six innings and allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits. It was his eighth quality start of the season.

Two of the runs allowed by Jokisch came in the first inning to give the Baby Cakes a 2-0 lead. Chris Bostick’s sacrifice fly started the scoring and Peter O’Brien’s run-scoring single gave New Orleans a two-run advantage.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds squandered numerous opportunities on offense as they were edged by the Round Rock Express 3-2 Thursday night at First Tennessee Park. The Sounds went 1-for-19 with runners in scoring position on the night.

Daniel Mengden was once again outstanding for the Sounds. The right-hander twirled his fifth quality start in his last six with six shutout innings of four-hit baseball. He walked one and fanned six on the night. Offensively the Sounds scattered eight hits but were unable to cross the plate against Round Rock starter Adrian Sampson in his 5 2/3 innings of work.

Nashville Sounds blank Sacramento River Cats 6-0 at First Tennessee Park

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds got five shutout innings from 20-year-old Jesus Luzardo to help extend their winning streak to eight games with a 6-0 win over the Sacramento River Cats Monday night at First Tennessee Park.

In his Triple-A debut, Luzardo scattered eight hits, all singles, and struck out six. He threw 52 of his 76 pitches for strikes.

The lefty received early run support in the first inning when Boog Powell, Steve Lombardozzi and Anthony Garcia collected base hits. Garcia’s line drive up the middle plated Lombardozzi to give the Sounds a 1-0 lead.

Nashville Sounds take down Fresno Grizzlies, 5-2

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN -The Nashville Sounds used a balanced attack at the plate and a strong pitching performance by starter Eric Jokisch to top the Fresno Grizzlies, 5-2, in front of 7,451 fans at First Tennessee Park Wednesday night.

Eight different hitters collected at least one hit for the Sounds, including multi-hit games from Steve Lombardozzi and Jorge Mateo. On the bump, Jokisch turned in his seventh quality start of the season as he allowed two runs over six innings.

Nashville jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Lombardozzi sparked a rally with a bunt single in the first inning. He moved to second on a walk and scored on a two-out single up the middle by Boog Powell.
