Nashville Sounds lose lead late to Omaha Storm Chasers in 5-2 loss

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Omaha Storm Chasers plated four runs in the top of the seventh inning on their way to a 5-2 victory against the Nashville Sounds in front 6,130 fans Thursday night at First Tennessee Park.

Nashville starting pitcher Seth Maness cruised through his first six innings of work. Just acquired by the Texas Rangers earlier in the day, Maness allowed only one hit and threw 68 pitches in his first six innings.

Armed with a 2-0 lead, Maness allowed a leadoff double to Erick Mejia to start the seventh.

Nashville Sounds fall to Omaha Storm Chasers 4-2 after rain delay

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – On Wednesday night, May 1st, after a thunderstorm and a rain delay, the Omaha Storm Chasers took care of the Nashville Sounds 4-2 at First Tennessee Park.

Both teams waited out a one-hour, 13-minute rain delay prior to first pitch. After the delay, Omaha didn’t waste any time with a pair of runs in the opening frame. Frank Schwindel knocked in the first run of the game with a run-scoring single and Elier Hernandez’s RBI fielder’s choice gave the Storm Chasers a 2-0 lead.

Nashville came right back with a run of their own in the bottom half of the opening inning. Carlos Tocci walked and took second base on a wild pitch before Andy Ibanez drove him in with a run-scoring single up the middle.

Nashville Sounds take down Omaha Storm Chasers, 7-1

Nashville SoundsPapillion, NB -The Nashville Sounds took care of the Omaha Storm Chasers 7-1 in Sunday’s matinee to even up the five-game series.

Raul Alcantara took on his biggest workload of the season as he logged a six innings in his third start of the campaign. In those six frames he allowed just one run, which came on a solo home run in the second inning from Omaha’s Frank Schwindel. The 70 pitches thrown by Alcantara were a season-high.

The Sounds were all over the base paths all afternoon as they tallied 14 hits and put a runner on base in each inning.

Nashville Sounds finish road trip with 4-3 win over Omaha Storm Chasers

Nashville SoundsPapillion, NE – The Nashville Sounds wrapped up their six-game road trip with a 4-3 victory over the Omaha Storm Chasers Monday afternoon. Sounds starter Daniel Gossett earned his first win of the season with a quality start while three Sounds batters recorded multi-hit games.

The Sounds drew first blood by plating a pair of runs in the top of the second inning. Josh Phegley and Nick Martini recorded back-to-back run-scoring doubles to spot Gossett a 2-0 lead. The advantage was short-lived as the Storm Chasers erased the two-run deficit with a pair of runs of their own in the second inning.

Nashville Sounds home game against Omaha Storm Chasers Suspended Due to Rain

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds game against the Omaha Storm Chasers was suspended due to rain with the Sounds on top 6-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning. The game will be resumed on Sunday at 2:05pm and will be a full nine-inning game. Sunday’s regularly scheduled game will be a seven-inning game and will begin approximately 30 minutes after the completion of Saturday’s suspended game.

The Sounds jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning thanks to some savvy base running by Jorge Mateo. The speedster led off with a single and advanced to second on a passed ball and to third on a fly ball to center field. Omaha starter Andres Machado then threw a pitch in the dirt that skipped away from catcher Nick Dini just enough for Mateo to be able to slide across home plate safely.

Nashville Sounds blanked by Storm Chasers 5-0

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN The Nashville Sounds’ offense did not live up to the Friday Fireworks mantra and were shutout by the Omaha Storm Chasers 5-0 in front of a sellout crowd of 10,481 at First Tennessee Park. It was the second time in the 2018 campaign the Sounds have been shutout.

Sounds starter Eric Jokisch cruised through the first three innings, allowing just two hits before Omaha broke through in the fourth inning. Hunter Dozier collected a one-out double and came around to score when Frank Schwindel squeaked a triple just fair inside the first base bag that trickled down into the right field corner. Schwindel was brought home on a sacrifice groundout by Ryan O’Hearn.

Nashville Sounds lose to Omaha Storm Chasers 4-3 in extra innings

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – For the second time in three games the Omaha Storm Chasers outlasted the Nashville Sounds in extra innings. Hunter Dozier’s bloop single in the 11th inning sealed the Sounds fate Wednesday night.

With two outs and a runner on third base in the top of the 11th inning Lou Trivino jammed Dozier but the Omaha right fielder muscled the pitch into shallow center field to put the Storm Chasers in front for good.

Yairo Muñoz collected a pair of hits for his fifth consecutive multi-hit game. Franklin Barreto went 3-for-3 for his fifth multi-hit game in his last eight.

Nashville Sounds falls to Omaha Storm Chasers 9-3

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds trailed from start to finish en route to a 9-3 defeat at the hands of the Omaha Storm Chasers Tuesday night. The Sounds dropped to 64-70 on the season with the loss.

The Sounds were unable to take advantage of five walks from Omaha starter, Christian Binford and left the bases loaded without plating a run in each of the first two innings. In total they left 11 runners stranded and went just 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position.

Omaha took a 2-0 lead with help from the Sounds defense. In the first inning Frank Schwindel dribbled a ground ball to third base for a potential double play but the ball was thrown away by Sounds second baseman Franklin Barreto, allowing a run to score.

Nashville Sounds beats Omaha Storm Chasers 11-5

Nashville SoundsPapillion NE – A career night from Yairo Muñoz carried the Nashville Sounds past the Omaha Storm Chasers 11-5 Saturday night. Muñoz drove in a career-high five runs as he went 3-for-5 with a home run and a pair of doubles.

The Sounds offense spotted starting pitcher, Frankie Montas, a four-run cushion before he took the mound. Renato Nuñez lifted a sacrifice fly to right to score Franklin Barreto from third base for the first run of the game. Matt Olson doubled and came around to score on a single from Mark Canha and an error by Omaha first baseman, Ryan O’Hearn. Muñoz then destroyed a 1-0 pitch for his second home run of the season.

Omaha Storm Chasers nab last minute win over Nashville Sounds

Nashville SoundsPapillion, NE – The Sounds were clinging to a 3-2 lead entering the ninth inning but a pair of singles and a costly error lifted the Omaha Storm Chasers to the 4-3 victory.

Logan Moon legged out an infield single to start the ninth inning rally for Omaha. Billy Burns followed that up with a base hit through the left side of the infield to bring Dean Anna to the plate. Anna laid down a bunt back to Sounds closer, Simon Castro who airmailed the throw into foul territory allowing the tying and winning runs to score.
