Fresno, CA – The Nashville Sounds cruised to a 5-1 win against the Fresno Grizzlies at Chukchansi Park Friday night. Patrick Wisdom had three hits, including his 24th home run of the season. Wisdom’s big night at the plate helped the Sounds to the three-game sweep, their second series sweep of 2019.
Wisdom’s long ball was his sixth in his last five games, and his 18th in his last 40 contests. He has homered in five consecutive games.
The designated hitter had previously knocked in the first run of the game with an RBI double in the second inning. The home run was a solo blast and gave Nashville a 2-1 lead after five frames.
Fresno, CA – On Thursday night, the Nashville Sounds broke lose in the ninth inning breaking the 6-6 tie by pushing two runs across the plate for an 8-6 win over the Fresno Grizzlies at Chukchansi Park.
The Sounds cruised most of the night. They belted four doubles in the first inning against Scott Copeland and led 4-0 right away. Zack Granite, Andy Ibanez and Ronald Guzman had consecutive doubles to start the game, and Christian Lopes smashed a two-run double later in the frame. Then Patrick Wisdom blasted a solo homer in the third to make it 5-0. Wisdom, who also homered twice on Wednesday, has homered in four consecutive games.
Fresno, CA – The Nashville Sounds opened their road trip in California road by rocking the Fresno Grizzlies 12-2. Zack Granite recorded four hits in the game and Patrick Wisdom hit two two-run home runs.
Granite’s first-of-four hits came in the first at bat of the game when he hit a leadoff triple. Andy Ibanez hit him in on a sacrifice fly to give Nashville a 1-0 lead in the first.
Two more runs scored in the third inning for the Sounds. Granite hit his second triple of the game and was knocked in again by Ibanez on a single. He would later score on a Nick Solak single to push Nashville’s lead to 3-0.
Montgomery County, TN – The Clarksville Montgomery County School System (CMSS) has announced that Dr. Sean Impeartrice has been named Interim Chief Academic Officer for CMCSS.
Dr. Impeartrice most recently has served as Secondary Special Education Coordinator in Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools.
Fresno, CA – The Nashville Sounds red-hot offense flipped it into high gear Thursday night with a 13-3 win over the Fresno Grizzlies at Chukchansi Park.
The runs came in waves for the top home run hitting team in Minor League Baseball. Matt Chapman hit a solo homer, and Franklin Barreto clubbed a three-run blast as part of a four-run top of the third inning.
It continued in the fourth when Joey Wendle started the inning with a triple down the right field line. Wendle’s knock would be one of four extra-base hits in the frame. Matt McBride doubled, Barreto drove in two more runs with another double, and Matt Olson finished the scoring with the third double of the inning to give Nashville (18-19) a 9-1 lead.
Fresno, CA – Fresno designated hitter A.J. Reed hit a two-run, walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Grizzlies a stunning come-from-behind win over the Nashville Sounds at Chukchansi Park Wednesday afternoon.
Reed’s game-winning blast came just moments after Nashville’s Chris Parmelee looked like he was the game’s hero. With the game even at 4-4 in the top of the ninth, Parmelee launched a two-out solo homer to give the Sounds a 5-4 lead.
Sounds reliever Simon Castro – who allowed a game-tying home run in the bottom of the eighth – went back to the mound for the ninth and issued a lead off walk to Preston Tucker. The free pass came back to haunt Castro as Reed launched a 2-1 pitch from the right-hander out to deep right field to give Fresno its first win of the four-game set.
Fresno, CA – The power surge continued for the Nashville Sounds as they belted three home runs on the way to an 11-6 win over the Fresno Grizzlies at Chukchansi Park Tuesday night.
Nashville got homers from Matt Chapman, Matt Olson, and Jaycob Brugman in the blowout win. Brugman led the offensive charge with four of Nashville’s 16 hits.
Chapman wasted little time getting the scoring started when he launched his sixth homer of the season off the scoreboard in the second inning. The solo smash was part of a two-run frame as Brugman later added a run-scoring base knock.
Fresno, CA – The Nashville Sounds began an eight-game road trip with a 4-1 victory over the Fresno Grizzlies Monday night. Catcher Bruce Maxwell returned from his stint with Oakland with a three-hit night for the Sounds.
Working his way back from Tommy John surgery, Chris Bassitt (1-0, 4.00) put together a solid start for the Sounds (16-18). Six days after making his Sounds 2017 debut, Bassitt made his first start for the ball club and cruised through a season-high five innings and needed just 62 pitches to do so.
He benefited from outstanding defense behind him. The Sounds turned a double play in each inning from the second through the fifth. The four twin-killings matched a season-high for Nashville.
Pridie Extends Hitting Streak to Season-Best Nine Games
Fresno, CA – Ryan Roberts hit his first home run of the season, but it was not enough as Nashville lost to Fresno 5-3 at Chukchansi Park on Sunday afternoon.
The early stages of the game were characterized by multiple lead changes. The Grizzlies put up two second inning runs on Sounds’ starter Chris Bassitt, who was making his return to the Sounds starting rotation after stints in both the Oakland A’s and Nashville Sounds bullpens.
The Sounds wasted zero time getting back in to the game the next half-inning. Alden Carrithers singled and he scored on the Roberts’ homer.
Nashville Sounds Come One Out Away From Victory Before Fresno Delivers Walk-Off Hit
Fresno, CA – Brad Mills delivered a stunning start and Kent Matthes roped a run-scoring double in the 11th, but the Fresno Grizzlies scored a pair of runs late to walk-off over the Sounds on Saturday night at Chukchansi Park with a 3-2 win.
Despite Mills’ 1-5 record this season, the lefty was coming in riding a quality start streak through his last three outings. He made it four straight by throwing 7.0 shutout innings with six strikeouts and no runs. Mills made it through his eighth start of 2015 with just 74 pitches, 52 going for strikes, never walking a batter. The veteran took the no-decision, but lowered his ERA to 3.91.
