Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Nashville struck first but the New Orleans’ bats responded, swiftly defeating the home team 9-6 at First Tennessee Park on Sunday night.

With Sounds primary leadoff hitter Craig Gentry given the night off, Joey Wendle stepped into the tone-setter role in the first inning and performed admirably, tripling to start the game.

Next batter Andy Parrino drove Wendle in and the next two batters – Ryan Roberts and Jason Pridie – followed suit loading the bases with no outs. Parrino then scored on a wild pitch and the other runners moved into scoring position. Roberts would score on a Dayan Viciedo sacrifice fly and the Sounds led 3-0 after one.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds dropped the first game of their eight-game homestand 4-1 to the New Orleans Zephyrs on Friday night.

The Sounds fell behind 1-0 in the third inning when Zephyrs catcher Jhonatan Solano took advantage of a hanging breaking ball from Nashville starter Cody Martin, pulling the ball down the left field line for his third home run of the season.

The score remained that way till the fifth inning when Sounds catcher Bryan Anderson matched his positional counterpart’s feat with his third home run of the season.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Kent Matthes snapped a 0-for-18 streak with an RBI double and the Sounds walked-off with a 2-1 victory over the New Orleans Zephyrs on Tuesday night at First Tennessee Park.

Sounds leadoff hitter Matt Carson – who had already been on base three times in the game without even registering a hit – led off the ninth with a double. Next batter, Joey Wendle flew out to left field and the walk-off was suddenly in doubt; Nashville had twice already squandered bases loaded with one out situations on the night.

Nashville Sounds fall 7-5 in 18 innings to New Orleans Zephyrs

 

Play Longest Game Since 2006

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – It took five hours, 26 minutes, 18 innings and an infielder pitching for the New Orleans Zephyrs to finally edge the Nashville Sounds on Saturday night at First Tennessee Park.

The night marked the longest game Nashville has been a part of since losing a 24-inning affair, 5-4 with the Zephyrs at Greer Stadium on May 5th, 2006.

The Sounds fell behind early when former Sound Vinny Rottino took Sounds starter Barry Zito deep to give the Zephyrs a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning.
