Nashville Sounds lose 8-5 to El Paso Chihuahuas

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds fall Thursday night 8-5 to the El Paso Chihuahuas in the series finale. Eli White led the way for the Sounds offense with three hits.

A solo home run by Estaban Quiroz in the second inning was the first run of the game for El Paso. They scored two more runs in the third inning when Ty France hit a two-run single to make the score 3-0, Chihuahuas.

Three runs in the bottom of the fourth by Nashville tied the game up. Andy Ibanez led the inning off with a home run, his 13th of the season. Eli White hit a double that scored Nick Solak and White scored on an RBI single by Patrick Wisdom to tie the game at 3.

Nashville Sounds blanked by Memphis Redbirds 10-0 at First Tennessee Park

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds struggled again in a 10-0 loss to the Memphis Redbirds at First Tennessee Park despite pitcher Tim Dillard took hold of another franchise pitching record.

Dillard struck out Adolis Garcia for the first out in the fourth inning for his only punch out of the night. It was his 352nd career strikeout with the Sounds – matching the all-time franchise record held by Jamie Werly since 1983.

Dillard’s mark was the only positive of the night as Memphis hitters otherwise had their way. The Redbirds scored three runs in the fourth and four runs in the sixth on their way to a 10-run, 14-hit outburst.

Nashville Sounds get 9-3 win at Round Rock Express

 

Nashville SoundsRound Rock, TX – The Nashville Sounds beat Round Rock Express Friday night 9-3 at the Dell Diamond thanks to five strong innings from pitcher Tim Dillard. Hunter Cole plated three RBI’s on 4 for 5 hitting.

The win evened the five-game set at one win apiece and snapped the Sounds’ losing streak against Round Rock at five.

The Sounds never trailed in the game, as they scored three runs in the second to chase Express starter Cy Sneed. Cole and Zack Granite smashed run-scoring singles, and Patrick Wisdom drew a bases-loaded walk. Then Cole drove in another run in the third inning with a single, and Delino DeShields drew a bases-loaded free pass to make it 5-0.

Nashville Sounds falter at Memphis Redbirds, 7-2

 

Nashville SoundsMemphis, TN – The Nashville Sounds lost their third straight game after a 7-2 loss to Memphis, Sunday. Tim Dillard earned his second loss of the season while Ryan Helsley earned his first win of the season for the Redbirds.

Two runs were scored by the Redbirds in the first inning. Tyler O’Neill hit a single to score Drew Robinson, Adolis Garcia would ground out to score another to make it 2-0 after one inning.

Memphis would score a run in the second and third inning each. Robinson had a RBI single in the second and Rangel Ravelo hit the RBI single in the third.

Nashville Sounds fall to Omaha Storm Chasers 4-2 after rain delay

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – On Wednesday night, May 1st, after a thunderstorm and a rain delay, the Omaha Storm Chasers took care of the Nashville Sounds 4-2 at First Tennessee Park.

Both teams waited out a one-hour, 13-minute rain delay prior to first pitch. After the delay, Omaha didn’t waste any time with a pair of runs in the opening frame. Frank Schwindel knocked in the first run of the game with a run-scoring single and Elier Hernandez’s RBI fielder’s choice gave the Storm Chasers a 2-0 lead.

Nashville came right back with a run of their own in the bottom half of the opening inning. Carlos Tocci walked and took second base on a wild pitch before Andy Ibanez drove him in with a run-scoring single up the middle.

Sounds Hurler Led Minors In ERA Prior To Mid-July Callup

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Former Nashville Sounds starting pitcher Jimmy Nelson was named the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Year on Wednesday afternoon by the league office.

The 25-year-old right-hander dominated the PCL during his three-month stint with the Sounds earlier this season en route to earning a promotion to the Milwaukee Brewers. Entering the year, he had been rated by Baseball America as the organization’s top prospect.
