Nashville Sounds lose 8-5 to El Paso Chihuahuas

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds fall Thursday night 8-5 to the El Paso Chihuahuas in the series finale. Eli White led the way for the Sounds offense with three hits.

A solo home run by Estaban Quiroz in the second inning was the first run of the game for El Paso. They scored two more runs in the third inning when Ty France hit a two-run single to make the score 3-0, Chihuahuas.

Three runs in the bottom of the fourth by Nashville tied the game up. Andy Ibanez led the inning off with a home run, his 13th of the season. Eli White hit a double that scored Nick Solak and White scored on an RBI single by Patrick Wisdom to tie the game at 3.

Nashville Sounds fall to Iowa Cubs, 5-3

Nashville SoundsDes Moines, IA -The Nashville Sounds couldn’t hold an early lead Friday night and ultimately lost 5-3 to the Iowa Cubs in Game 2 of a doubleheader at Principal Park. The Sounds had won the first game of the day-night twinbill 8-3 to move their win streak to five. That matched a season-high, and it’s the second time this season their five-game win streak has been snapped by Iowa.

Franklin Barreto got the Sounds rolling in the first inning with a long two-run homer to left off Eddie Butler. It was Barreto’s 10th home run of the year in 50 games for the Sounds.

Nashville Sounds hold off late Iowa Cubs rally for 8-7 win

Nashville SoundsDes Moines, IA – The Nashville Sounds held off a furious rally by the Iowa Cubs to open the unofficial second half of the season with an 8-7 win at Principal Park.

After racing out to a 5-0 lead and holding an 8-2 advantage in the top of the eighth, the Sounds allowed five doubles in the final two innings as the Cubs scored five runs to make it close.

Bruce Maxwell started the scoring with an RBI single in the top of the second inning. Nashville added four runs in the third as Franklin Barreto, Anthony Garcia, Sheldon Neuse and Jorge Mateo had hits.

Nashville Sounds errors costly in 6-2 loss to Iowa Cubs at First Tennessee Park

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN -The Iowa Cubs spoiled the evening for 11,691 fans at First Tennessee Park by topping the Nashville Sounds, 6-2, Wednesday night. Three costly errors burned the Sounds as the third-largest crowd in ballpark history took in the game.

Nashville scored first as Ramon Laureano provided early fireworks with a two-run home run down the right-field line in the bottom of the first inning. Laureano’s seventh of the season came moments after Nick Martini extended his on-base streak to 64 games with a leadoff single.
