Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Steve Lombardozzi’s walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted the Nashville Sounds to a 3-2 win over the Oklahoma City Dodgers in front of 7,105 fans at First Tennessee Park Monday afternoon.

Lombardozzi hit the first pitch he saw from Adam Liberatore down the left field line and off the wall to easily score Jake Smolinski from third. The inning began with a sharp single to left field by Smolinski and continued when Beau Taylor was hit by a Liberatore pitch.

Sheldon Neuse dropped down a sacrifice bunt to put runners at second and third with one out.

Nashville Sounds fall to Oklahoma City Dodgers 5-2 at First Tennessee Park

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN -The Oklahoma City Dodgers used a solid performance by starter Guillermo Moscoso to dispatch the Nashville Sounds, 5-2, in front of 8,882 fans at First Tennessee Park Friday night.

The 34-year-old Moscoso allowed two runs on four hits in six innings to pick up his second win of the season. The right-hander allowed a run in the first and a run in the second but retired the final 13 batters he faced.

Nashville scored first when Nick Martini and Josh Phegley each collected a double in the first inning. Martini’s double extended his on-base streak to 35 games – the second-longest active streak in the Pacific Coast League.

Nashville Sounds get 3-2 extra innings win over Colorado Sky Sox

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Josh Phegley delivered a walk-off base hit in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Nashville Sounds a come-from-behind 3-2 win in front of 7,189 fans at First Tennessee Park Wednesday night.

Phegley’s RBI single scored Nick Martini who tied the game earlier in the inning with a run-scoring single to right field. The game-winner by Phegley is the fourth walk-off win of the season for Nashville who are now three games over .500 for the first time in 2018.

The two teams played to a 1-1 game through nine innings as the night belonged to the pitchers. Sounds’ starter Eric Jokisch allowed one run on four hits in 5 2/3 innings. Reliever Raul Alcantara worked after Jokisch and followed with 3 1/3 shutout innings.

Nashville Sounds defeat Colorado Sky Sox 4-2 Tuesday night

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds edged the Colorado Springs Sky Sox 4-2 Tuesday night after an hour and ten minute rain delay to start the game.

Chris Bassitt had arguably his strongest outing of the season on the mound for the Sounds. He fanned two batters in each of his first three innings and finished his night with a season-high seven punch outs. In five innings of work allowed just one run on six hits.

The Sounds took advantage of Sky Sox starter Corbin Burnes’ inability to find the strike zone in the fourth inning. Burnes walked BJ Boyd and Franklin Barreto to start the inning, then retired the next two batters.

Nashville Sounds take on New Orleans Zephyrs Friday night at First Tennessee Park.

Nashville SoundsMemphis, TN – The Nashville Sounds jumped out to a 6-0 lead and held on to defeat the Memphis Redbirds 7-4 Tuesday afternoon. The win secured the series victory for the Sounds over the first-place Redbirds.

Daniel Gossett lowered his league-leading ERA to 1.63 with another stellar performance Tuesday afternoon. He recorded his second quality start of the season with six shutout innings of two-hit baseball while fanning seven batters.

The only real danger he found himself in came in the fourth inning when Luke Voit doubled to lead off the frame and reached third base on a wild pitch. Gossett stranded Voit at third by drawing a fly out and striking out a pair of batters.

Nashville SoundsMemphis, TN – James Naile dazzled on the mound and a pair of three-run innings from the offense lifted the Nashville Sounds past the Memphis Redbirds 8-3 on Mother’s Day.

Memphis scattered seven hits off Naile in his seven innings of work, his third seven-inning start of the season. He allowed two runs and matched a season-high with seven strikeouts while not walking any Redbirds. Jorge Mateo drove in a trio of runs for the third time this season and Sheldon Neuse collected his first three-hit game of the season, matching a career-high.

Nashville SoundsMemphis, TN – Eric Jokisch earned his first win of the season as the Nashville Sounds topped the Memphis Redbirds 8-4 Saturday night. Beau Taylor’s three-run double in the sixth inning gave the Sounds a lead they would not relinquish to ensure Jokisch his first victory.

The night did not get off to a hot start for Jokisch. Memphis slugger Tyler O’Neill crushed his 10th home run of the season to put the Redbirds in front 2-0 in the opening inning.

After yielding two runs on three hits in the first inning, Jokisch found his groove.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds closed an eight-game homestand with a 4-3 win over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox in front of 9,084 fans at First Tennessee Park Friday night.

The scoring happened early as the Sky Sox plated three runs in the first, and the Sounds bounced back with all four of their runs in the second.

Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the second, the first five batters reached safely for Nashville. Josh Phegley walked, and back-to-back singles by Sheldon Neuse and Slade Heathcott loaded the bases for Jorge Mateo. The shortstop ripped a two-run double down the left field line to make it a 3-2 game.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds’ attempt at sweeping the Memphis Redbirds came up short in a 4-1 loss in front of 8,297 fans at First Tennessee Park Monday afternoon.

After winning the first three games of the four-game set, Nashville’s offense went quiet in the finale. The Sounds’ one run came on just three hits – all singles.

Starters Eric Jokisch and Daniel Poncedeleon were sharp early as neither team scored in the first two innings. Nashville manufactured the game’s first run in the third after Poncedeleon issued back-to-back walks to start the inning. BJ Boyd gave the Sounds a 1-0 lead when he plated Josh Phegley with a fielder’s choice.

Nashville Sounds get 8-2 win over Memphis Redbirds Sunday

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Franklin Barreto hit a pair of home runs and Kendall Graveman put together a solid outing in the Nashville Sounds’ 8-2 win over the Memphis Redbirds in front of a sellout crowd of 10,712 Sunday afternoon at First Tennessee Park.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Barreto lined a two-out, two-run single to left field to give the Sounds a 2-1 lead. Anthony Garcia pitched in and followed with a run-scoring base hit to extend the lead to 3-1.

The Sounds never trailed again as the offense kept churning while Graveman held down Memphis. The right-hander allowed two runs over 6 1/3 innings and picked up his first win of the season.
