Tennessee Vols Basketball falls at LSU, 78-65

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsBaton Rouge, LA – A tough day from the field and 20-point outputs from Cam Thomas and Javonte Smart were too much for the No. 16 Tennessee men’s basketball team to overcome Saturday, as it fell to LSU, 78-65, at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

The Vols (14-5, 7-5 SEC) shot just 35 percent from the field, while the Tigers (13-6, 8-4 SEC) shot the ball at a highly efficient clip of 52 percent.

Freshman Jaden Springer led the Vols in scoring, finishing with 21 points and eclipsing the 20-point mark for the third consecutive game. Springer also logged six rebounds and a season-high seven assists with just one turnover.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – A career-high 30 points from freshman Jaden Springer and an efficient night from the field pushed the 16th-ranked Tennessee men’s basketball team past Georgia, 89-81, on Wednesday, February 10th at Thompson-Boling Arena.

Springer’s 30 points are the most by a Tennessee (14-4, 7-4 SEC) freshman since Grant Williams poured in 30 points against Georgia on February 11th, 2017, and mark the first time a Tennessee player has scored 30-plus points since Williams scored 43 on January 23rd, 2019.

The Tennessee (13-4, 6-4 SEC) triumph made Rick Barnes the only active head coach to lead his team to at least three wins at Rupp Arena as the visitor.

The win was also the first time UT has beaten Kentucky (5-12, 4-6 SEC) in back-to-back games at Rupp Arena.

Tennessee Vols Basketball loses on the road to Ole Miss, 52-50

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsOxford, MS – Despite an efficient night from 3-point range and a solid effort on the defensive end, the 11th-ranked Tennessee Vols basketball team fell on the road to Ole Miss, 52-50, on Tuesday at The Pavilion.

The Vols (12-4, 5-4 SEC) shot 44 percent from behind the 3-point arc, but a second-half run from Ole Miss (9-8, 4-6 SEC) pushed the Rebels to their ninth win of the year.

The Vols were led in scoring for the fourth consecutive game by senior Yves Pons who scored 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting while knocking down two of his three attempts from 3-point land. Pons also pulled down four rebounds and recorded a steal.
