Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, CO – The first-place Nashville Sounds (60-52) picked up a win and a loss against the Colorado Spring Sky Sox on Thursday night at Security Service Field.

First up was the continuation of Wednesday’s suspended game, in which the Sounds offense never got going as the visitors lost 6-0 to the Sky Sox.

The game, which began on Wednesday as the first part of a doubleheader, picked up in the top of the third inning with the Sky Sox leading 2-0 courtesy of a two-run second inning against rehabbing Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jim Henderson (0-1).

The first-place Sounds (56-50) took three of four from the Sky Sox in the series to extend their division lead to 2 1/2 games over the New Orleans Zephyrs and Round Rock Express. Outfielder Caleb Gindl drove in three of the four Sounds runs on the night.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN Left-hander Brad Mills struck out a career-high 13 batters over eight scoreless frames to lead the Nashville Sounds to a 3-0 victory over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox on Thursday evening at Greer Stadium.

Mills (4-0), who retired his first 11 batters in order and 17 of his first 18 overall, lowered his ERA to 1.76 with the outstanding outing, his longest of the season. He scattered three hits and did not walk a batter in his 101-pitch start.

Nashville (27-26) — which out-hit Colorado Springs, 7-4, in the contest — was blanked for the second straight night and has lost five of its last six contests. It is the first time the Sounds have suffered back-to-back shutout defeats since June 11th-12th, 2010.

The Sounds (19-16) — who moved back into first place by a half-game over the Round Rock Express — plated seven unanswered runs at one point en route to the victory, which snapped the club’s four-game losing streak. Nashville’s nine runs marked a season high for the club.

Nashville’s Brad Mills Serves Up Seven Scoreless Innings to Extend Streak

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – After 12 1/2 scoreless innings, the Nashville Sounds allowed an RBI ground-rule double to Kyle Parker to give the Colorado Springs Sky Sox the 1-0 victory Thursday afternoon at Security Service Field.

With two outs in the home half of the 13th inning, Sounds reliever Jeremy Jeffress (0-1) surrendered a double to Sky Sox outfielder Jason Pridie before Parker’s game-winner.

It is the Sounds’ first extra-innings loss of the season, after winning their first two.
