Austin Peay State University Athletics receive sterling marks on Women in Sport Report Card

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsMinneapolis, MN –  Out of 352 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I universities, Austin Peay State University athletics ranked third overall with a grade of 77.8 percent and were 1 of 18 universities to receive an “A” grade on the 2019-20 Women in College Coaching Report Card (WCCRC) presented by The Tucker Center for Research on Girls & Women in Sport.

Austin Peay State University offers nine women’s sports, and seven of those teams are coached by women: Valerie Brown (Cross Country, Indoor Track & Field and Outdoor Track & Field), Jessica Combs (Women’s Golf), Naomi Kolarova (Women’s Soccer), Taylor Mott (Volleyball and Beach Volleyball), and Kassie Stanfill (Softball).

APSU Tennis has Twelve Governors earn ITA Scholar-Athlete honors

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsTempe, AZ – Twelve Austin Peay State University (APSU) tennis student-athletes were recognized for their academic accomplishments as an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete, Monday. Both the Governors men and women’s tennis programs were named ITA All-Academic Teams as well.

Six members of the men’s team – Christian Edison, Jacob Lorino, Anton Damberg, Julius Gold, Oliver Andersson, and Thiago Nogueira – posted a GPA of at least 3.50 to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition.

Austin Peay State University Director of Athletics Gerald Harrison signs contract extension

“I am delighted to have Gerald continue as our Director of Athletics,” said White. “Under Gerald’s leadership, our student-athletes have enjoyed great success, both on the field and in the classroom. In these difficult times for our country and university, it is advantageous to have a leader that provides a steady hand, clear guidance, and an exciting future vision. APSU Men, Women’s Tennis earn ITA recognition for Community Service

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsBrentwood, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) men and women’s tennis teams both earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Community Service Award Honorable Mention, the governing body announced Tuesday, May 27th, 2020.

The community service award honors teams that gives back to their campus and their community and non-tennis pathways.

The APSU women’s program had taken the top award each of the previous two seasons, while this represents the first community service nod for the APSU men’s program.
