Nashville, TN – The cross-state rival Memphis Redbirds defeated the Sounds for the second straight evening, recording a 5-4, 10-inning victory over Nashville in front of 7,888 fans on Saturday evening at Greer Stadium.
The loss was Nashville’s second in a row following the club’s season-best five-game winning streak.
In the top of the tenth, Steven Hill got things started when he drew a one-out walk from Sounds reliever Juan Perez (4-2). Brock Peterson followed with a potential double-play grounder to shortstop but Edwin Maysonet airmailed Taylor Green at second base to allow runners on the corners with just one out.

Nashville, TN – Wily Peralta struck out a career high 11 batters as the Nashville Sounds handed the cross-state rival Memphis Redbirds a 7-3 defeat on Thursday night at Greer Stadium.
The win gave Nashville its third victory of the series and ninth win in the 16-game season series to earn the Tennessee Lottery I-40 Cup Series.
With a 48-57 record, the Sounds are less than 10 games under .500 for the first time since May 27th when they were 20-29.

Memphis, TN – Outfielder Caleb Gindl homered and drove in three runs as the Nashville Sounds topped the cross-state rival Memphis Redbirds, 5-2, on Saturday night at AutoZone Park. Nashville (39-51) has won three of the first four games of the series.
Nashville starter Wily Peralta (5-8) allowed one unearned run on six hits while fanning six in 5 2/3 innings for the win. While also scoring and driving in a run while reaching base in both of his at-bats, the 23-year old exited early as a precaution after being struck in the leg with a comebacker. Peralta now has four victories in his last five starts (4-0, 1.82 ERA, 5er/24.2ip) from the hill.

Memphis, TN – Nashville Sounds catcher Jason Jaramillo homered and drove in three runs as the Sounds handed the cross-state rival Memphis Redbirds a 5-4 defeat on Wednesday afternoon at AutoZone Park.
Nashville (26-41) took two out of three games from the division-rival Redbirds and netted its first winning series on the road this season. The one-run victory for the Sounds was also the club’s PCL-leading 15th of the season.
Nashville Records 1-0 Win as Right-hander Improves To 7-0 In Nine Starts
Des Moines, IA – Right-hander Mike Fiers was nearly flawless on Wednesday evening, allowing only four baserunners in a complete-game, three-hit shutout to lead the Sounds to a 1-0 victory over the division-rival Iowa Cubs at Principal Park.
With the gem, Fiers continued his dominance of the Pacific Coast League, improving to 7-0 with a 1.25 ERA (8er/57.2ip) in his nine starts for the Sounds this season.
He allowed only three hits (two singles and a double) while issuing one walk and striking out seven batters in Nashville’s sixth shutout victory of the year. Fiers was very efficient, throwing only 99 pitches on the evening (74 strikes) and retired 24 of his 28 batters faced.
Des Moines, IA – The Nashville Sounds evened their road series against the division-rival Iowa Cubs by posting a 7-3 victory on Tuesday evening at Principal Park.
Martin Maldonado and Edwin Maysonet each drove in three runs on the night for the Sounds (69-69), who got two-hit efforts from five different players to pace their 12-hit attack.
After Iowa took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a Lou Montanez RBI single, the Sounds responded with three runs in the top of the second inning to grab a 3-1 advantage against Cubs starter Nick Struck.
Des Moines, IA – The Nashville Sounds opened their season-ending road trip with an 8-5 loss, as the division-rival Iowa Cubs scored five runs in the seventh inning to come back and win on Monday evening at Principal Park.
It was the 22nd loss on the road after leading this season, as Nashville (68-69) entered the bottom of the seventh inning with a 5-3 lead.
Right fielder Caleb Gindl had three hits while right fielder Brandon Boggs and catcher Martin Maldonado each hit two-run home runs in the loss.
Boggs gave the Sounds a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning. After Gindl hit a two-out infield single, Boggs crushed a two-run homer over the left field wall, his ninth of the season.
Des Moines, IA – Erick Almonte’s two-run blast in the top of the eighth inning gave the Nashville Sounds an 8-7 victory and four-game series sweep of the division rival Iowa Cubs on Thursday night at Principal Park.
Taylor Green reached base earlier in the frame on a fielding error, followed by Almonte hitting his fifth home run to left field off Iowa reliever John Gaub (3-2).
The sweep was Nashville’s (47-52) second of the season after taking four straight from New Orleans from June 25th-28th at Greer Stadium. Winners of a season-best six consecutive contests, the Sounds have played in a PCL-high 44 one-run games this season, going 20-24 in those contests.
