Nashville Sounds loses Thursday night to San Antonio Missions

 

Nashville SoundsSan Antonio, TX -The Nashville Sounds jumped out fast, but faded late in 5-3 loss to the San Antonio Missions Thursday night. That completed the sweep for the Missions over the Sounds.

Nashville took the early lead in the top of the first inning. Zack Granite led off with a double and scored on a single by Scott Heineman. He later scored on a single by Nick Solak to give the Sounds a 2-0 lead.

Shelby Miller made the start for the Missions in his first pitching appearance since June 25th with the Texas Rangers before being released. He threw 40 pitches in the first inning and 28 pitches in the second inning.

San Antonio Missions roll past Nashville Sounds, 11-1

 

Nashville SoundsSan Antonio, TX – San Antonio Missions score six runs in the fifth inning and keep scoring in 11-1 blow out win over Nashville Sounds Monday night. Two-time MLB All-Star Gio Gonzalez made a rehab start for San Antonio and allowed the only run to Nashville.

San Antonio scored first in the bottom of the first when Trent Grisham hit a lead-off homer on a fly ball to right-center field, giving the Missions a 1-0 lead. Nashville’s starting pitcher Seth Maness pitched well after that, getting the Missions to ground into double plays in three of the first four innings.

Nashville Sounds split doubleheader against San Antonio Missions at First Tennessee Park

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds beat the San Antonio Missions in game one 3-1 and lost game two 6-0 in front of 8821 fans at First Tennessee Park Sunday.

Both teams stayed scoreless in game one through the fourth inning. San Antonio threatened for the first time in the top half with runners on first and third base with one out. Nashville’s starter Ariel Jurado managed to get out of the inning with an inning ending double play.

The Missions scored the first run of the game when Mauricio Dubon hit an RBI double to score Nate Orf. Dubon tried scoring on a single by Cory Spangenberg but Zack Granite threw Orf out at the plate to keep the score 1-0.

Nashville Sounds get 10-5 win at San Antonio Missions

Nashville SoundsSan Antonio, TX – The Nashville Sounds ended their road trip with four home runs and win on Monday, defeating the San Antonio Missions 10-5.

San Antonio started off with a two-run first inning. Mauricio Dubon singled to lead things off and was hit in by Keston Hiura on a triple. Tyrone Taylor singled to bring in Hiura and gave the Missions a 2-0 lead.

Jett Bandy evened the score at 2-2 when he blasted a two-run home run in the top of the second inning that also scored Matt Davidson. It was Bandy’s second home run of the road trip.

Nashville Sounds rally for eight runs in the eight to beat San Antonio, 7-3

Nashville SoundsSan Antonio, TX – The Nashville Sounds trailed 2-0 when they erupted for seven runs in the eighth inning to lead them to a 7-3 win over the San Antonio Missions Friday night in San Antonio.

Remarkably, all seven runs of the damage scored by Nashville in the eighth inning came with two outs. San Antonio reliever Donnie Hart was summoned in relief of Jay Jackson who had retired all four Nashville batters he faced. Hart faced three batters and failed to record an out.

Nolan Fontana started the rally with a ground-rule double to right-center. Zack Granite legged out an infield single to put runners at the corners for Carlos Tocci who cut the deficit in half at 2-1 with a run-scoring single. It was one of two hits for Tocci who leads the Sounds with five multi-hit games.

Nashville Sounds Series Finale vs. Colorado Springs Sky Sox Suspended Due to Travel Curfew

Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, CO – The series finale between the Nashville Sounds and the Colorado Springs Sky Sox was suspended after eight innings with the Sounds on top 14-6. The game was delayed for nearly two hours due to inclement weather and was suspended after the eighth inning due to a travel curfew. The game will be completed in August when the Sounds return to Colorado Springs.

The Sounds jumped out to an early lead as Jorge Mateo launched a solo-blast off the batter’s eye in straightaway center field to lead off the game. The lead was short-lived as the Sky Sox plated three runs in the home half of the first inning. Christian Bethancourt doubled over the head of center fielder Dustin Fowler to drive in a pair of runs and came into score on a Tyler Saladino base hit.

Nashville Sounds fall to Colorado Springs Sky Sox, 8-1

Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, CO – The Colorado Springs Sky Sox jumped on the Nashville Sounds early and cruised to an 8-1 win at Security Service Field Wednesday afternoon.

Sky Sox catcher Jacob Nottingham set the tone when the launched a three-run homer off Sounds’ starter Eric Jokisch in the bottom of the first inning. The blast came right after a fielding error by Franklin Barreto and a free pass issued by Jokisch. 

The deficit grew to 4-0 in the second when right fielder Nate Orf singled in Keon Broxton. Orf went 4-for-5 on the day and has nine hits through the first three games of the series.

Colorado Springs Sky Sox rally to beat Nashville Sounds, 10-6

Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, CO – A back-and-forth affair in Colorado Springs went to the Sky Sox as the Nashville Sounds dropped a 10-6 decision at Security Service Field Tuesday night.

The Sounds had leads of 2-0 and 5-2, but it wasn’t to be as the Sky Sox came back with a pair of late four-run innings to win game two of the four-game set.

Consecutive run-scoring base hits by Anthony Garcia and Slade Heathcott gave Nashville a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning. Colorado Springs quickly bounced back with a pair of runs against Sounds’ starter Kendall Graveman in the fifth. Keon Broxton’s RBI double made it a 2-1 game, and Nate Orf’s sacrifice fly evened the game at 2-2.

Nashville Sounds drop Doubleheader to Colorado Springs Sky Sox

Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, CO – When it rains, it pours and while the Nashville Sounds weren’t in Music City for Wednesday night’s rain storms they found themselves under a storm of hits and runs from the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. The Sky Sox took game one 10-6 and game two 13-6.

Starting pitching struggled on the night for Nashville. Corey Walter and Dalton Sawyer combined to allow 17 runs on 17 hits in 5 1/3 innings. When all was said and done the Sky Sox tagged Sounds pitchers for 23 runs on 17 hits in the two games including a pair of inside-the-park home runs.

The Sky Sox took game one 10-6 on the back of an eight-run third inning. That frame was the worst inning of the season for the Sounds as the Sky Sox erupted for eight runs on nine hits as 13 batters came to the plate to take a 9-2 lead.

Colorado Springs Sky Sox nab 9-8 win over Nashville Sounds

Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, CO – In a game with plenty of fireworks on Independence Day it was the Colorado Springs Sky Sox who emerged victorious over the Nashville Sounds 9-8 Tuesday night. The two teams combined for 17 runs on 24 hits but it was a costly error in the bottom of the eighth inning that pushed the Sky Sox over the top.

With the score tied 8-8, one out, and a runner on second base for the Sky Sox in the bottom of the eighth inning, Lewis Brinson grounded a ball to Sounds shortstop Marcus Semien. Semien collected the ball smoothly but air-mailed the throw over the head of first baseman Matt McBride to put runners on the corners.
