Wes Benjamin got the ball for Nashville and cruised through a 1-2-3 first inning but trouble hit in the second. Nashville Sounds defeat Memphis Redbirds, 6-5
Nashville trailed 5-2 after Memphis outfielder Tyler O’Neill drilled a two-run homer into The Band Box in the top of the seventh inning. The Sounds rallied immediately in the home half when Andy Ibanez found the gap in right-center for a one-out double. Nashville Sounds drop first game, win second against Memphis Redbirds, Sunday
Willie Calhoun hit a home run in the bottom of the first inning to put Nashville up 1-0 early. It was his seventh of the season and fourth in his last six games. It also extended his hitting streak to seven games. Memphis immediately responded with eight runs in the top of the second. Andrew Knizner hit a solo home run to tie things up. Nashville Sounds take down Memphis Redbirds, 4-2Nashville Sounds
Gossett was superb in his piggy back role of Chris Bassitt for the Sounds. Bassitt started for the Sounds and allowed a run on five hits in his two innings of work. Gossett took over in the third inning and turned in seven solid innings for his second win of season.
