Nashville SoundsFresno, CA – The Nashville Sounds red-hot offense flipped it into high gear Thursday night with a 13-3 win over the Fresno Grizzlies at Chukchansi Park.

The runs came in waves for the top home run hitting team in Minor League Baseball. Matt Chapman hit a solo homer, and Franklin Barreto clubbed a three-run blast as part of a four-run top of the third inning.

It continued in the fourth when Joey Wendle started the inning with a triple down the right field line. Wendle’s knock would be one of four extra-base hits in the frame. Matt McBride doubled, Barreto drove in two more runs with another double, and Matt Olson finished the scoring with the third double of the inning to give Nashville (18-19) a 9-1 lead.

Nashville Sounds beat Fresno Grizzlies 2-1 for fourth straight win

 

First Series Sweep Since May 29th-June of 2015

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Matt Olson delivered a clutch two-out hit to lift the Nashville Sounds to a 2-1 win and series sweep over the Fresno Grizzlies in front of 4,645 fans Tuesday night at First Tennessee Park.

Olson, who went 6-for-12 in the four-game series, hit a ground-rule double down the right field line to snap a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the sixth.

The Sounds trailed early when Fresno pushed a run across against Dillon Overton in the second. Max Stassi tripled to the wall in right-center and scored on a groundout by Andrew Aplin.

Right-hander Tosses Seven Shutout Innings to beat Fresno

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – A balanced offensive attack backed up a stellar pitching performance by Chris Smith to lead the Nashville Sounds to a series-opening 9-1 win over the Fresno Grizzlies in front of a sellout crowd of 10,043 Saturday night at First Tennessee Park.

It’s the second time over the last 11 days that Smith has gone seven innings which matches a career-high.

Jake Smolinski got the Sounds (17-19) on the board in the first with a towering two-run blast to left field. It plated Joey Wendle who started the frame with a single and stolen base.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN -The first-place Nashville Sounds (58-51) had their win streak end at five games, as the Oklahoma City RedHawks mounted a four-run rally in the 9th inning to win 6-5 Sunday night at Greer Stadium.

With Sounds reliever Rob Wooten (0-1) on the hill in the 9th, the RedHawks pulled to within one run via a pair of RBI singles by Matt Duffy and Max Stassi, but it was nine-hole hitter Joe Schlafani who provided the game-winning blast: a two-out double off the right field wall that scored two runs. Stassi scored from first on the play, barely beating out the throw from the outfield.

Sean Halton Leads Nashville With 2-for-4, Three-RBI Night

Nashville SoundsOklahoma City, OK – Sean Halton ripped a pair of doubles and drove in three runs to lead the Nashville Sounds to a 7-3 victory over the Oklahoma City RedHawks on Saturday evening at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The Sounds grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning against Oklahoma City starter Tommy Shirley. After Jeremy Hermida drew a leadoff walk, the red-hot Halton (2-for-4) plated him by driving an RBI double to left. Halton, who is hitting .400 (28-for-70) over his last 17 contests, later scored on a double play grounder.

Velez Homer One Of Only Two Nashville Hits In Contest

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds were limited to a season-low two hits by three Oklahoma City hurlers in a 4-2 loss to the RedHawks on Thursday evening at Greer Stadium in the opener of a four-game series.

Oklahoma City starter Nick Tropeano (2-3) allowed only one hit over his six innings of work, a two-run Eugenio Velez homer, to pick up the win for the visitors.

Rhiner Cruz followed with two hitless frames before Kevin Chapman gave up a Caleb Gindl single in the ninth but successfully worked out of a first-and-third, two-out jam to pick up his second save of the year.

Nashville Completes First Winning Road Trip Since 2011

Nashville SoundsOklahoma City, OK – Jimmy Nelson worked his fifth straight quality start and Nashville batters slugged three homers for the second straight game to propel the Sounds to an 8-5 victory over the Oklahoma City RedHawks in the finale of a four-game series on Sunday afternoon at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

With the victory, the Sounds wrapped up their first winning multiple-series road trip since August 2011, closing the swing with a 5-3 mark. Nashville (12-11) now possesses a winning record for the first time since the third day of the season.
