Frankie Montas, Ryan Dull, Chris Bassitt and Lou Trivino combined on a five-hit shutout one night after four Nashville pitchers blanked Iowa in the home opener. Montas was impressive in his second start of the season as he faced the minimum over three frames. Dull, working in consecutive games, tossed a scoreless fourth before handing off to Bassitt who went four innings and racked up six strikeouts. The runs came in waves for the top home run hitting team in Minor League Baseball. Matt Chapman hit a solo homer, and Franklin Barreto clubbed a three-run blast as part of a four-run top of the third inning. It continued in the fourth when Joey Wendle started the inning with a triple down the right field line. Wendle’s knock would be one of four extra-base hits in the frame. Nashville Sounds beat Colorado Springs Sky Sox 5-2
Rain and thunderstorms rolled into Colorado Springs in the bottom of the sixth inning Saturday night. After retiring Lewis Brinson via a ground out, Sounds reliever Eduard Santos bounced a fast ball in the dirt with Garrett Cooper batting. Nashville Sounds get 12 inning win over Round Rock Express
The win extended the season-long winning streak to nine games for the Sounds who have won 16 of their last 17 games. It also pushed Nashville’s American South Division lead to 3.5 games over the Express. Trailing 6-5 going to the bottom of the 12th, Max Muncy started the rally when he drew a walk off of Carlos Fisher.
