Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Junior sprinter Kymmalett Ross, of the Austin Peay State University track and field team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

In Austin Peay’s first weekend of indoor competition, Ross stood out by winning 55m and 200m dashes at the MT Christmas Invitational, Saturday, setting personal-bests in both events with a 7.12 in the 55 and a 24.63 in the 200 – the latter being a tenth of a second behind the school record. She also contributed to Austin Peay’s 3:52.52 mark in the 4x400m relay in Murfreesboro, where the Lady Govs came in second to the host Blue Raiders. «Read the rest of this article»

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUMurfreesboro, TN – Austin Peay State University may be tough to tame on the track this season.

A Lady Gov won all four races shorter than a mile, part of an excellent end to the first weekend of indoor competition that closed out the pre-Christmas portion of Austin Peay’s schedule at the MT Christmas Invitational, hosted by Middle Tennessee at the Murphy Center.

APSU’s Maikea Davis earns OVC Track Athlete of the Week honor

 

Ohio Valley Conference - OVCBrentwood, TN – After breaking the school record twice in the 200m dash at last weekend’s Niswonger Invitational, Austin Peay State University track and field junior Maikea Davis has been named Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, per an announcement from the conference office, Wednesday.

Davis qualified and placed third in the event out of 107 athletes at Johnson City, TN, her third top-three finish in as many meets since joining the Lady Govs.

Track and Field wraps pre-Christmas slate strong

Austin Peay State University GovernorsMurfreesboro, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team had another noteworthy showing, Saturday, at Middle Tennessee’s Christmas Invitational.

Head coach Doug Molnar was impressed at his team’s efforts and all around performance in a meet that included a pair of competitive Sun Belt teams (Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky), along with Ohio Valley Conference member Tennessee State.

“I can see the confidence growing from week one to week two,” Molnar said. “This is a group that is going to continue to grow.”

Indoor track and field continues at MT Christmas Invitational

 

APSU Women’s Track and Field

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team will have another chance to grade their fall training schedule when it competes at the MT Christmas Invitational, beginning at 2:00pm, Friday, at Middle Tennessee’s Murphy Center.

The five-team meet includes host Middle Tennessee, Western Kentucky, Ohio Valley Conference member Tennessee State, Alabama-Birmingham and Austin Peay.
