Nashville, TN – Nashville Sounds Patrick Wisdom hit a go-ahead solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to lead the team to a 6-5 win over the San Antonio Missions in front of a sellout crowd of 10,632 fans Friday night at First Tennessee Park.
Wisdom’s mammoth homer to left-center was his 30th of the season. The 30 home runs are tied for the eighth-most by a Sounds player in single-season team history.
David Carpenter came in for the top of the ninth and faced the minimum to earn his 21st save of the season. The 21 saves for Carpenter is the seventh-most in single-season team history.
Des Moines, IA – The Nashville Sounds were behind in the first half of the game against the Iowa Cubs. The Sounds took the lead in the sixth inning thanks to five runs. Christian Lopes launched a three-run home run in the inning, leading Nashville to a 7-5 win.
The Sounds scored twice to open the game in the first inning. Andy Ibanez hit an RBI single that scored Isiah Kiner-Falefa. Two batters later, Matt Davidson hit an RBI single to make it a 2-0 game early. Nashville scored in the sequence of four consecutive hits.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds crank out three home runs to beat the Iowa Cubs 7-4 Saturday night at First Tennessee Park.
Patrick Wisdom hit a solo blast in the second and Scott Heineman and Nick Solak launched a pair of two-run homers in a four-run bottom of the sixth inning.
Trailing 4-2 in the sixth, Matt Davidson reached on an infield single to spark a rally. Heineman followed and launched a two-run blast to the opposite-field to even the game at 4-4. Andy Ibanez followed and reached on what proved to be a costly error. Solak made the miscue hurt when he belted a two-run homer down the left field line to give the Sounds a 6-4 lead.
San Antonio, TX – The Nashville Sounds lost a close one Tuesday night to the San Antonio Missions 6-5 at Nelson Wolff Stadium. San Antonio center fielder Trent Grisham hit a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Missions the win.
Grisham’s blast was off Nashville reliever Miguel Del Pozo and came with one out in the frame. It snapped a 5-5 tie in what was a back-and-forth game all night.
Neither team got length from their starting pitcher as Pedro Payano threw 79 pitches in 2 2/3 innings for the Sounds and Drew Smyly threw 83 pitches in 3 2/3 innings for the Missions. Payano allowed five earned runs and Smyly yielded four.
San Antonio, TX – San Antonio Missions score six runs in the fifth inning and keep scoring in 11-1 blow out win over Nashville Sounds Monday night. Two-time MLB All-Star Gio Gonzalez made a rehab start for San Antonio and allowed the only run to Nashville.
San Antonio scored first in the bottom of the first when Trent Grisham hit a lead-off homer on a fly ball to right-center field, giving the Missions a 1-0 lead. Nashville’s starting pitcher Seth Maness pitched well after that, getting the Missions to ground into double plays in three of the first four innings.
Papillion, NE – The Nashville Sounds did not score a run against the Omaha Storm Chasers Thursday night falling 1-0 at Werner Park.
The only run of the night came in the bottom of the fourth inning. Taylor Guerrieri, who entered in the third after starter Pedro Payano retired all six batters he faced in a shortened outing, struck out his first two batters.
Then Kelvin Gutierrez reached on an infield single, took second on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Ryan O’Hearn. All seven of Omaha’s hits in the game were singles, and two were infield hits.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds explode in the bottom of the second inning for 12 runs to beat the Oklahoma City Dodgers 14-11 at First Tennessee Park Wednesday night.
In their largest scoring inning of 2019, Nashville sent 16 batters to the plate. Trailing 2-1 entering the bottom of the second, Andy Ibanez evened the game with a bang when he launched a solo homer down the left field line.
The next five batters reached safely and the Sounds extended their lead. Every Nashville batters that came to the plate in the inning either reached safely or knocked in a run. After the Ibanez homer, run-scoring hits came from Zack Granite, Eli White, Patrick Wisdom, Ibanez again, and Christian Lopes.
Memphis, TN – Nashville Sounds pitcher Pedro Payano threw a shutout for five innings to help the team to a 3-1 victory over the Memphis Redbirds Friday night at AutoZone Park. The Sounds got home runs from Scott Heineman and Patrick Wisdom.
The win completed a four-game sweep over the division rival and gave the Sounds a win in the season series, 9-7. It was the first four-game series sweep for the Sounds since sweeping the Colorado Springs Sky Sox in August of 2018.
Payano got the start for Nashville and did his part from the jump.
Memphis, TN – On Thursday night, the Nashville Sounds defeated the Memphis Redbirds 3-2 at AutoZone Park. With the win, the Sounds moved to 6-2 on their road trip and claim their fourth consecutive win.
The Sounds struck first in the second against Genesis Cabrera. With two outs and the bases empty, Scott Heineman singled, stole second, took third on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Juremi Profar. After the Redbirds tied the game in the fourth and took the lead in the fifth against starter Wes Benjamin, the offense picked him up in the sixth against reliever Chris Ellis.
Metairie, LA – On Saturday night, the Nashville Sounds dropped the New Orleans Baby Cakes 10-3 at the Shrine on Airline. Nashville’s Andy Ibanez and Carlos Tocci combined for seven hits, four runs and five RBIs in the win. The Sounds totaled a season-high 18 hits and matched their largest margin of victory on the year.
The game was tied 1-1 in the third when Nolan Fontana launched a home run to right field to give the Sounds a lead they never gave away, and they broke open the game with a six-run third off Ben Meyer. Eli White drilled a two-run double, Matt Davidson singled home a run and Ibanez crushed a three-run homer to make it 8-1.
