Nashville Sounds let game slip away to Iowa Cubs

 

Nashville SoundsDes Moines, IA – The Nashville Sounds let a 3-1 lead slip away in the sixth inning and never recovered, falling 5-3 to the Iowa Cubs on Saturday night at Principal Park. The loss ended the Sounds’ win streak at four and officially eliminated them from playoff contention. It was just their third loss in the last 16 games.

The Sounds led 3-1 through five innings and got another strong start by Seth Maness. He yielded one run – a Robel Garcia homer in the second – on just two hits and walked none over five innings in a no-decision.

Iowa Cubs rally to beat Nashville Sounds, 8-4

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds fall to the Iowa Cubs Sunday night at First Tennessee Park 8-4. The Sounds offense only managed four hits in the contest. The game was tied until the top of the sixth inning when the Cubs scored three runs and then scored two more in the ninth.

Matt Davidson took the lead for Nashville in the bottom of the first inning. After Willie Calhoun walked, Davidson hit his long ball over the right-center field wall to give the Sounds a 2-0 advantage early. But Iowa tied the game in the top of the third inning when Erick Castillo hit a two-run double to score Zack Short and Trent Giambrone.

Nashville Sounds come from behind to defeat Iowa Cubs, 7-4

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds crank out three home runs to beat the Iowa Cubs 7-4 Saturday night at First Tennessee Park.

Patrick Wisdom hit a solo blast in the second and Scott Heineman and Nick Solak launched a pair of two-run homers in a four-run bottom of the sixth inning.

Trailing 4-2 in the sixth, Matt Davidson reached on an infield single to spark a rally. Heineman followed and launched a two-run blast to the opposite-field to even the game at 4-4. Andy Ibanez followed and reached on what proved to be a costly error. Solak made the miscue hurt when he belted a two-run homer down the left field line to give the Sounds a 6-4 lead.

Nashville SoundsDes Moines, IA – The Nashville Sounds lost their fourth straight game in an 8-4 loss against the Iowa Cubs. It was also their fifth straight loss versus Iowa this season

Matt Davidson led off the second inning with his sixth home run of the season to put Nashville up 1-0. It was the second consecutive night Davidson hit a home run.

The Cubs came right back with a four-run inning in the bottom of the second. Cristhian Adames singled and Jim Aducci walked to put runners on first and second.

Nashville Sounds lose close one to Iowa Cubs, 6-5

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds lost to the Iowa Cubs 6-5 in the series finale Monday night at First Tennessee Park. The Sounds dropped four of five in the opening homestand of the season.

In the top of the second inning, Iowa struck first. With one out, the Cubs hit back-to-back singles by Jim Adduci and Zack Short. Taylor Davis followed with a soft groundball back to pitcher Phillips Valdez who attempted to turn a double play but threw the ball into center field, scoring Adduci and putting Short at third.

Cristhian Adames then grounded into a fielder’s choice to score Short to put Iowa up 2-0.

Nashville Sounds have big Fifth to down Las Vegas 51s 8-7

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds plated seven runs in the fifth inning and hung on to dispatch the Las Vegas 51s, 8-7, in front of 6,521 fans at First Tennessee Park Wednesday night.

The Sounds have scored 18 runs on 30 hits in the first two games of the series, and have won 10 consecutive games over the 51s dating back to the 2015 season.

12 batters came to the plate in the fifth for Nashville. Seven reached via hit, one drew a walk, and another was safe on a fielder’s choice and error. Left fielder Kenny Wilson started the frame with a single to left field, and later added a second hit in the inning, a run-scoring knock to cap the scoring.

Nashville Sounds crush four homers in 10-4 win over Las Vegas 51s

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds launched four home runs and returned home with an emphatic 10-4 win over the Las Vegas 51s in front of 8,187 fans at First Tennessee Park Tuesday night.

Mark Canha drilled a pair of home runs, his 10th and 11th of the season for Nashville to lead the charge. Matt Olson added his 20th of the season and Renato Nunez added to his Minor League lead with his 26th of the year.

It was Olson’s two-run shot in the first that started the barrage. Franklin Barreto started the home half of the frame with a base hit up the middle. Olson followed with a towering blast to right-center off Donovan Hand to give the Sounds a 2-0 lead.
