Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Another late comeback attempt fell short for the Nashville Sounds in a 5-4 loss to the El Paso Chihuahuas in front of 5,943 fans at First Tennessee Park Monday night.

Renato Nuñez belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning to pull the Sounds within a run, but that’s where the game ended up.

Nashville put three runners on after the home run but failed to score. Matt Chapman singled but was caught stealing moments later. After two more reached safely, Ryan LaMarre struck out to end the threat.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds overcame a three-run deficit Saturday night to defeat the El Paso Chihuahuas 7-3 in front of a sellout crowd at First Tennessee Park. 10,193 fans witnessed the Ryan Lavarnway rip a bases clearing double in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Sounds a lead they would not relinquish.

The eighth inning rally for the Sounds (13-13) began when Matt Olson reached on a strikeout wild pitch with two outs. Matt Chapman and Jaycob Brugman then each drew walks to set up Lavarnway to be the hero.

Nashville SoundsMemphis, TN – The Memphis Redbirds legged out 13 hits, including six for extra bases, during a 12-3 rout of the Nashville Sounds on Sunday afternoon at AutoZone Park in the final game before the All-Star break.

With the loss, the Sounds (41-50) dropped three of five to their cross-state rivals in the series and finished the road trip with a 4-5 record.

Memphis left-hander Tyler Lyons (6-4) picked up the victory by twirling his seventh quality start of the year, holding Nashville to two runs on five hits while fanning six over his seven innings of work.

Nashville Sounds Belt Three Homers, Led By Jason Pridie’s Team-Leading 12th

Nashville SoundsMemphis, TN – Despite belting three home runs, the Nashville Sounds came up on the short end of a 5-4 defeat at the hands of the Memphis Redbirds on Saturday evening at AutoZone Park.

With its win, Memphis evened the series at two games apiece and knotted the season series between the clubs at 5-5 as the cross-state rivals duke it out for possession of the Tennessee Lottery I-40 Cup.

The defeat was Nashville’s 16th one-run loss of the year, 2nd-most in the Pacific Coast League.

Nashville Sounds fall to Memphis Redbirds 5-2, Lose Fifth Straight

 

Rehabbing Infielder Ike Davis Goes 1-For-4 With Two RBIs

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Sounds fell victim to an early deficit and dropped the series opener against the Memphis Redbirds at First Tennessee Park on Monday night, 5-2.

The loss was the team’s fifth straight defeat and put Nashville’s home record to 15-14. The Sounds had their chances, going 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position, but saw the Redbirds take the first game in the I-40 Cup Series.

Memphis stormed out to a 4-0 lead off Sounds’ starter Chris Bassitt. Tommy Pham got the ‘Birds on the board when he blooped a two-run single in the first. Rafael Ortega hit a double and scored in the second and then produced a run-scoring triple in the third.
