Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds got five shutout innings from 20-year-old Jesus Luzardo to help extend their winning streak to eight games with a 6-0 win over the Sacramento River Cats Monday night at First Tennessee Park.

In his Triple-A debut, Luzardo scattered eight hits, all singles, and struck out six. He threw 52 of his 76 pitches for strikes.

The lefty received early run support in the first inning when Boog Powell, Steve Lombardozzi and Anthony Garcia collected base hits. Garcia’s line drive up the middle plated Lombardozzi to give the Sounds a 1-0 lead.

Nashville Sounds roll over Sacramento River Cats at Greer Stadium, 14-2

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – In a battle of first-place clubs, the Nashville Sounds blew out the Sacramento River Cats, 14-2, on Sunday evening at Greer Stadium in the opener of a four-game series.

The 14 runs scored were the most for the Sounds this season. Six Nashville batters recorded multiple-hit efforts during the club’s 16-hit attack, which included a season-high four home runs.

Nashville Sounds lose 9-0 to Sacramento River Cats Tuesday at Greer Stadium

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds connected for only four hits in Tuesday morning’s 9-0 loss at Greer Stadium to the visiting Sacramento River Cats, marking the second time this season the Sounds have been swept in a four-game series by their opponent.

The loss marks Nashville’s fifth in a row and the team’s fourth shutout loss of the season. The Sounds were outscored by Sacramento, 28-11, in the series.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Sacramento River Cats took their third straight game from the Nashville Sounds, prevailing 8-4 on Monday evening at Greer Stadium.

River Cats starter Bruce Billings (3-2) turned in a quality start to post the victory, striking out eight batters while allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits over six innings of action. It marked the right-hander’s third quality start in his last four outings.
