Nashville SoundsMemphis, TN – The Nashville Sounds used a balanced offensive attack and four relievers to beat the Memphis Redbirds, 7-3, on Sunday afternoon at AutoZone Park. Eight of the nine Sounds hitters reached base safely, and five players drove in at least one run. 

Anthony Garcia started the scoring with an RBI single in the first against Daniel Poncedeleon, and after the Redbirds tied the game in the fourth, Garcia drew a bases-loaded walk in the fifth as part of a three-run rally. Dustin Fowler poked an RBI single, and Beau Taylor delivered a sacrifice fly to make it 4-1. Then the Sounds broke open the game with three unearned runs in the seventh against reliever Tommy Layne.

Nashville Sounds take down Round Rock Express, 4-2

Nashville SoundsRound Rock, TX – The Nashville Sounds’ batters hit the ball high while starting pitcher Eric Jokisch kept it low en route to a 4-2 win over the Round Rock Express.

The Sounds belted three solo home runs within the first two innings while Jokish induced 11 ground outs on the night. Jokisch was economical on the mound as he needed just 72 pitches, 55 of which were strikes, to get through six innings. The lone blemish on the night for the southpaw was a leadoff home run in the sixth inning to Christian Lopes.

Dustin Fowler got the night started by yanking a solo home run down the right field line in the first inning.

Nashville Sounds split doubleheader with Oklahoma City Dodgers

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds and Oklahoma City Dodgers split a doubleheader in front of a sellout crowd 11,130 fans at First Tennessee Park Saturday night.

After falling 6-1 in game one, the Sounds returned the favor with a 4-0 win in game two. Liam Hendriks, Dean Kiekhefer, Ryan Dull and Josh Lucas combined to shut out the Dodgers on five hits.

Hendriks started for the first time this year and tossed two innings before being relieved by Kiekhefer. The southpaw tossed three scoreless innings and picked up his sixth win of the season. Dull struck out the side in the sixth before handing it over to Lucas who finished the win.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds dropped game two of their five-game series with the Iowa Cubs 7-1 Thursday night after a six-run sixth inning from Iowa.

Nashville starter James Naile brought his A-game through 5 1/3 innings, allowing just one hit and fanning six batters. The wheels fell off after that as the next six I-Cubs hitters collected a hit off Naile before he was pulled.

He yielded three singles and three doubles. Ryan Dull then entered the game for Nashville and allowed his inherited runner to score on an RBI-double from Bijan Rademacher.

Nashville Sounds smack three home runs in 9-2 win over Omaha Storm Chasers

Nashville SoundsPapillion, NB – The Nashville Sounds smashed three home runs and got 5 2/3 solid innings from Brett Anderson to beat the Omaha Storm Chasers 9-2 on Tuesday night at Werner Park. The Sounds ended their nine-game road trip with a 6-3 mark.

The Sounds broke open the game with a five-run third inning against Glenn Sparkman. Nick Martini drilled an opposite-field two-run homer to left to make it 2-0 and move his consecutive games on-base streak to 63.

Nashville Honky Tonks fall to Round Rock Dance Halls at First Tennessee Park, 5-2

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN -The Nashville Honky Tonks wrapped up the 2018 Battle for the Boot series with a 5-2 defeat Sunday night at the hands of the Round Rock Dance Halls.

Round Rock’s Drew Robinson picked up right where he left off from Saturday’s game. Robinson slugged a game-tying two-out home run Saturday night and then crushed an 0-2 pitch beyond The Band Box to lead off Sunday’s ballgame.

The Honky Tonks responded in the home half of the frame. Jorge Mateo singled and swiped second base. Four batters later he came around to score on a play that saw two errors committed by Round Rock shortstop Cliff Pennington.

Nashville Sounds fall to Albuquerque Isotopes, 3-2

Nashville SoundsAlbuquerque, NM -After combining for 45 runs on 58 hits in the first two games of the series, the Nashville Sounds and Albuquerque Isotopes came back to earth Monday night as the Isotopes edged the Sounds 3-2. The two ball clubs mustered just five runs on 15 hits.

Nashville’s bullpen was asked to pitch 7 2/3 innings after the game began with a bit of controversy. Sounds starter Ben Bracewell was ejected after recording one out and throwing just three pitches. On his third pitch he threw the ball behind Albuquerque’s Raimel Tapia and was tossed, prompting the Sounds to go to their bullpen much earlier than anticipated. Ryan Dull entered the game and allowed a double from Tapia and a run-scoring single from Josh Fuentes as the Isotopes jumped out to a 1-0 lead. A sacrifice fly from Garrett Hampson doubled Albuquerque’s lead in the second.

Nashville Sounds pull out 8-6 win over El Paso Chihuahuas in extra innings

Nashville SoundsEl Paso, TX – Jorge Mateo launched an opposite-field two-run homer in the 10th inning to break a 6-6 tie and propel the Nashville Sounds to an 8-6 victory and a series win over the El Paso Chihuahuas Friday night at Southwest University Park. The Sounds had blown a 6-3 lead in the bottom of the ninth before Mateo’s heroics in the 10th helped the team regain control, and Jeremy Bleich got a save in the bottom half.

The Sounds grabbed the game’s first run in the top of the second against former Sound Dillon Overton. Anthony Garcia led off with a single, and Beau Taylor laced a double to the gap in left-center to make it 1-0.

Nashville SoundsEl Paso, TX -Nick Martini drilled a three-run homer in the top of the eighth inning to lead the Nashville Sounds to a come-from-behind 7-5 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas Thursday night at Southwest University Park.

Things looked bleak for the Sounds who trailed 5-1 entering the seventh inning. Two-out magic was the theme of the night as Nashville used four straight baserunners in the seventh to draw within a pair of runs at 5-3. Jorge Mateo and BJ Boyd collected infield singles and Martini drew a walk before Ramon Laureano doubled down the left field line to make it a two-run game.

Nashville Sounds shut out Iowa Cubs, 6-0

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds shut out the Iowa Cubs for the second consecutive game and grabbed a 6-0 win in front of 5,252 fans at First Tennessee Park Wednesday night.

Frankie Montas, Ryan Dull, Chris Bassitt and Lou Trivino combined on a five-hit shutout one night after four Nashville pitchers blanked Iowa in the home opener.

Montas was impressive in his second start of the season as he faced the minimum over three frames. Dull, working in consecutive games, tossed a scoreless fourth before handing off to Bassitt who went four innings and racked up six strikeouts. Trivino worked a perfect ninth to lock in the win for the Sounds.
