Trucks ready to spread salt as needed

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – With Clarksville under an Ice Storm Warning from 6:00pm today, Wednesday, February 10th, 2021 until 6:00pm Thursday, the Clarksville Street Department has prepared equipment and personnel to battle the wintry mix if and when it arrives.

A Clarksville Street Department truck, fitted with a salt box, is ready to roll if ice begins to hit area roads. A salt box ready to be placed on another truck hangs in the next bay at the Street Department equipment garage.

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – City of Clarksville street, transportation and public safety departments remained fully staffed Tuesday to provide services and protection to residents even as City Government offices closed amid a second wave of snow and hazardous travel conditions across the region.

“I want to compliment the hard work of our Street and Public Safety departments battling the impact of the storm,” Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan said at midday Tuesday. “It’s been a cold, long haul since this all started early Friday.”

Clarksville Police report 22 vehicle crashes since 5:00am, Friday

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – City of Clarksville Government offices were closed Friday because of the winter storm that brought ice, snow and hazardous travel conditions to Middle Tennessee.

But the City’s street, transportation and public safety departments remained fully staffed and engaged to provide services and protection to Clarksville residents.

Clarksville Street Department prepared for Winter Storm

 

Fleet of 30 trucks ready to spread salt, clear roadways

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Street Department on Thursday prepared its equipment and workforce to battle the wintry mix of ice and snow forecast to hit the area on Friday morning.

Scott Bibb, Street Department Operations Manager, said Thursday that the department has 24 dump trucks fitted with snow plows and salt boxes, and six lighter trucks with similar equipment, ready to hit the streets Friday morning, as necessary.
