Internal Revenue Service - IRSNashville, TN – The Internal Revenue Service is accepting applications for the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) grant programs, which will allow some organizations to apply for annual funding for up to three years.

In 2012, the IRS has awarded $193,000 in grants to three Tennessee organizations.

New IRS Online Tool Helps Low and Moderate Income Taxpayers Find Locations for Help

 

Internal Revenue Service - IRSWashington, D.C. – As part of a continuing effort to improve service to taxpayers, the Internal Revenue Service announced today the availability of a new online tool to help people easily find a location for volunteer tax preparation assistance.

The new tool, available 24 hours a day on IRS.gov, makes it easier than ever for qualified individuals to find free help through the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Volunteers at VITA locations generally offer tax preparation for people with incomes of $50,000 or less free of charge.

IRS Kicks Off 2012 Tax Season with Deadline Extended to April 17th

 

Internal Revenue Service - IRSWashington, D.C. – The Internal Revenue Service today opened the 2012 tax filing season by announcing that taxpayers have until April 17th to file their tax returns. The IRS encourages taxpayers to e-file as it is the best way to ensure accurate tax returns and get faster refunds.

Internal Revenue Service - IRSWashington, D.C. – The Internal Revenue Service is accepting applications for the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) grant programs, which will allow some organizations to apply for annual funding for up to three years.

For 2011, the IRS awarded $245,000 in grants to three Tennessee organizations.

Applications will be accepted through June 30th, 2011. Previous grant recipients will have the option to apply for up to three years of annual funding which would reduce the amount of paperwork they must complete over the three-year period. IRS seeking applications for Volunteer Tax Assistance Program Grants

 

Washington, DC – The Internal Revenue Service will soon begin accepting applications for the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) grant programs, which will allow some organizations to apply for annual funding for up to three years.

Last year the IRS awarded grants totaling $165,000 to two Tennessee organizations to help them provide free tax preparation for lower-income and elderly taxpayers.

Applications will be accepted June 1st, 2010, through July 9th, 2010.  Previous grant recipients will have the option to apply for up to three years of annual funding, which would reduce the amount of paperwork they must complete over a three-year period.
