Over than 350 Fort Campbell Soldiers and family members attend annual Earth Day event

 

Campbell CrossingFort Campbell, KY – Campbell Crossing’s 2014 Earth Day event was a huge success over the weekend. With more than 350 Fort Campbell Soldiers and family members in attendance, the afternoon was full of exciting games and activities including fun crafts, face painting, educational booths, food from Whitt’s BBQ and more.

The event kicked off with the traditional tree dedication, led by Garrison Commander Col. David L. “Buck” Dellinger.

More than 350 Soldiers and their families came out to enjoy fun attractions such as face painting, educational booths and presentations from the Nashville Zoo and the Channel 4 Weather team!

Tennessee State Natural Areas Program Offers Two Mid-Winter Hikes in Middle Tennessee on January 26th

 

Tennessee State ParksNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation’s Division of Natural Areas will host two guided day hikes at Middle Tennessee natural areas on Saturday, January 26th, including excursions to Short Springs State Natural Area in Coffee County and Virgin Falls State Natural Area in White County.

UT Extension OfficeWet, heavy snow like we experienced this past Monday can wreak havoc on some trees and shrubs. For others, it can be a good thing. Snow is a decent insulator, and can prevent damage from drying, freezing winds, which will suck moisture from foliage and stems.

The mass of dwarf yaupon in front of my office window is strong and dense enough to support several inches of snow without breakage.
