LBL Offers Free Cedar Christmas Trees

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLGolden Pond, KY – Beginning December 2nd, free Christmas tree permits will be available at Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area.

A permit entitles a family to cut one cedar tree between December 2nd and 24th. Permits, maps, and cutting guidelines may be obtained from the LBL Administrative Office, 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday, and at the Golden Pond Visitor Center, 9:00am-5:00pm, Saturday and Sunday. Evening Programs Return to LBL’s Golden Pond Planetarium and Observatory

 

Land Between the LakesGolden Pond, KY – Take a trip to Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area to experience Planetarium shows and Star Parties presented by the Land Between The Lakes Association beginning May 25th, 2013, at the Golden Pond Planetarium located in the Golden Pond Visitor Center.

Starry Night programs begin with a stunning planetarium theater presentation in the 40-foot dome planetarium, then a live viewing of the night sky (weather permitting) through a 16-inch, Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope at the Golden Pond Observatory. Members of the West Kentucky Amateur Astronomers (WKAA) will also be hosting in depth Star Party astronomy programs.

Annual Lyon County Between the Rivers Homecoming at Land Between the Lakes Announced

 

Land Between the LakesGolden Pond, KY – Former residents of the area now known as Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area will gather this fall for their annual Homecoming.

Land Between the Lakes encourages Alternatives to Fenton Boat Launch Area

 

Land Between the LakesGolden Pond, KY – While the Fenton Boat Launch Area is closed, Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area encourages boaters to substitute Sugar Bay Backcountry Area north of Fenton and Redd Hollow Backcountry Area south of Fenton for boat launching.

There are currently 10 boat ramps on LBL that provide public access to Kentucky Lake–three in Tennessee and seven in Kentucky.  Sugar Bay and Redd Hollow are the closest alternative ramps to Fenton. «Read the rest of this article»

Survey Shows 70% of Americans Planning at Least One Autumn Road Trip

Tennessee Department of TransportationNashville, TN – As people across the United States make plans for autumn road trips, the Tennessee Department of Transportation is reminding motorists that Tennessee’s award winning Scenic Byways offer some of the best views in the south.  Tennessee has five nationally designated Scenic Byways, the Cherohala Skyway, East Tennessee Crossing, Natchez Trace Parkway, Woodlands Trace and Great River Road.
