Beginning in 2006, this event has showcased the outstanding scholarly and creative efforts of APSU undergraduate and graduate students. This year’s presenters include students from chemistry, biology, music, computer science and languages and literature along with four other academic departments.
The student poster session will be from 3-4:30 p.m. in the Tommy Head Atrium of the Sundquist Science Complex and will feature 34 posters of graduate and undergraduate research.
Dr. Alissa Weaver, of Vanderbilt University Medical Center, will give a keynote lecture at 4:30 p.m. in Sundquist, Room E106. Weaver, a Sigma Xi distinguished lecturer, will address the topic of cancerous tumor progression.
Following the lecture, three awards will be given for the best research posters and the new Presidential Research Scholars for 2010-11 will be announced.
According to Dr. Rebecca Jones, assistant professor of chemistry at APSU and director of the event, the public is welcome to attend. Free refreshments will be provided during the poster session, and all are invited to the keynote lecture. The Research Forum is organized by the Office of Undergraduate Research and sponsored by the APSU Student Academic Success Initiative.
