There’s Still Time to Sign Up for Riverfest’s 4th Annual Regatta

Riverfest Regatta Cardboard Boat RacesThe Riverfest Regatta is not your typical boat race. The boats that will be racing down the Cumberland River Saturday morning, September 11th will be made of cardboard and a few other approved materials. Not only will teams be racing for bragging rights, but trophies will also be awarded to the first, second, and third place teams in each division.

The five divisions include Adult Open, Military, Business & Industry, City Department, and Church/Civic.

Prior to the race, boats will also be judged for the following awards:

  • Titanic Award – best sinking of a boat
  • Ship Shape Award – best boat design
  • Cardboard Queen  Award – prettiest boat
  • Team Attire Award – most creative costumes
  • Team Unity Award – most spirited and organized team

If you think you have what it takes, pick up an application form today at the Parks & Recreation office located at 102 Public Square or visit www.clarksvilleriverfest.com to print on out.  Forms must be returned to the Parks and Recreation office no later than September 8th, 2010.

Don’t miss the spectacle! Everyone is invited to watch as groups attempt to paddle their cardboard boats to the finish line on the Cumberland River, Saturday, September 11th at 10:00am at McGregor Park’s courtesy boat dock.
