Woman Creates a Robbery Story to Cover Up Loss of Rent Money

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – A woman was charged with False Report, after an investigation determined she concocted a story to cover up the loss of her rent and utility money.

On June 6th, 2011, around 3:30am, Demetrish Laswan Simien told officers someone broke into her house, covered her mouth, held a knife to her throat, and demanded her purse. She also told officers the robber threatened to return and harm her family and then fled from the residence with the purse.

Officers combed the areas and could not find any sort of forced entry, signs of the stolen purse, or any sign of footsteps on the ground covered with condensation. Officers at the scene that night noticed discrepancies in Simien’s story.

Detective Ulrey continued the investigation and was able to determine that Simien had staged a robbery scene by causing damage to her door after the fact, spreading contents of her purse in the yard after officers left the scene, and coaxed her child into providing information about a suspect.

Detective Ulrey determined that Simien had provided false information to officers.
