Clarksville, TN – The regular season concluded and the District tournaments commenced last week. From eight teams in the quarterfinals to four in the semis, and finally both the Boys and Girls District 10-AAA Tournament Champions were crowned on Monday and Tuesday.
Now, the tournament champions and three teams on both sides will begin competition in the Region 5AAA Tournament at Rossview High School beginning Friday, February 21st.
Clarksville, TN – Deep, dominant and balanced are just a few adjectives used to describe the Rossview Lady Hawks basketball teams. Now, for the first time in school history, writers can add District 10-AAA Tournament Champions. The Lady Hawks defeated the Kenwood Lady Knights in the District 10-AAA Girls Basketball Tournament Monday night at Rossview High School 63-35.
The win advances the Lady Hawks to the Regionals as the District 10-AAA number one seed. As a result they will play the District 9 fourth seed Friday, February 21st.
Clarksville, TN – At 4:00pm Saturday, February 15th, the first tip-off of the District 10-AAA Girls Basketball Tournament Semifinals took place at Rossview High School. Four teams including the top-seeded Rossview Lady Hawks competed for a chance to get to the Championship.
When the nets settled and the last echoes of sneakers squeaking on hardwood finally faded at the end of the day it was the Lady Hawks and the Kenwood Lady Knights who got the wins and advanced to the Championship game.
Clarksville, TN – The Kenwood Lady Knights fended off a late rally to win their District 10-AAA tournament quarterfinal match up against the Northeast Lady Eagles, 52-45.
The Lady Knights charged to a solid lead and held it comfortably for three periods. However, nine turnovers in the last period gave the Lady Eagles a chance to rally late in the fourth. The Lady Eagles made three, 3-pointers in the last 89 seconds of the game to get within six points of the Lady Knights. But the lead the Lady Knights had established held for the win.
Clarksville, TN – Needing a win to wrap-up its second straight outright District 10-AAA regular-season title, February 4th, the Rossview High Lady Hawks got out early on Kenwood High and never looked back, as they came away with a 69-37 victory.
Rossview (19-2, 13-0 District 10-AAA) had already earned at least a share of the regular-season title, but still had to come up with a win versus the Lady Knights or a win over West Creek High School — the number-two team in the district standings on February 7th — for the outright title.
Clarksville, TN – Only two weeks remain until the conference tournaments and with bad weather looming, ready to postpone or cancel any game, chances of earning another win are precious. At this point the cream has risen to the top. Now they have to stay healthy and find that extra gear because the finish line is in sight.
Clarksville,TN – Alonja Thomas scored 18 points Monday, January 27th at Kenwood High School in the Lady Knights 58-36 victory over the Springfield Lady Yellow Jackets.
It was the Lady Knights second District 10-AAA win in a row, improving them to 7-3 in the conference. The Lady Yellow Jackets fall to 0-10.
Thomas was one of eight Lady Knights to score in the game and the only one to score double digits. Katie Robolds was the second highest scorer for the Lady Knights with nine points.
Clarksville, TN – Scoring the final six points of the second overtime period, January 24th, the Kenwood High School Lady Knights outlasted the Clarksville High School Lady Wildcats, 52-48, in a key seeding game in District 10-AAA.
Kenwood (9-11, 6-3 District 10-AAA) trailed CHS 48-46, with 1:43 left in the second overtime, following the seconds of back-to-back field goals by Clarksville High’s TaTayana Outlaw.
Clarksville, TN – Kenwood High School girls basketball looked like it had everything under control with 2:30 minutes left and up by nine, January 14th in its District 10-AAA contest versus Northeast High School, but they had to hold off the Lady Eagles at the end for a 54-50 victory.
The Lady Knights (7-9, 4-2 District 10-AAA) led 46-37, with 2:23 left in the game, following one of two free throws by Malia Umrani.
But Northeast (5-11, 1-5 District 10-AAA) hit four straight free throws — in a span of just two seconds off the clock – to make it a five-point game, 46-41, with 2:03 left.
Clarksville, TN – Rossview High School scored the final four points in overtime, January 10th, to defeat the Kenwood High School 63-61 to remain undefeated in District 10-AAA play.
But the Lady Hawks (12-2, 6-0 District 10-AAA) almost didn’t get to the overtime period, as they had to score three points in the final 16 seconds of regulation to tie the game 59-59 to force the extra period.
Down three points after two free throws by Lady Knights (6-9, 3-2 District 10-AAA) Jasmine Johnson with 25 seconds left, the Lady Hawks came down and got a dribble drive to the basket by Karle Pace – who was fouled with 16 seconds left.
