Tennessee Titans last game against Oakland Raiders

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans kicked off the 2017 NFL season with a Week 1 matchup at home against the Oakland Raiders and fell by a score of 26-16. The highly anticipated contest featured the return of Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota and Raiders quarterback Derek Carr, who each suffered almost identical season-ending injuries in Week 16 of the 2016 season.

The Raiders’ offense came out strong as Carr connected with wide receiver Amari Cooper for an eight-yard touchdown on Oakland’s opening drive.

The rivalry has been filled with historically significant contests, including their very first matchup. On September 11th, 1960, the Houston Oilers defeated the Raiders 37-22 in the first game of either franchise’s existence.

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – Derek Carr passed for 330 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winner with less than two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, helping the Oakland Raiders exit a soggy Nissan Stadium with a 24-21 victory over the Tennessee Titans.

Carr completed 24 of 37 passes without throwing an interception on a rainy afternoon in which his counterpart, Titans rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota, was victimized by two costly interceptions. Mariota’s second picked off pass came in Oakland territory with 43 seconds on the clock to end the Titans’ hopes of pulling out a dramatic win.

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – There have been 48 all-time regular season and postseason games between the Tennessee Titans and Oakland Raiders organizations, two of the original eight members of the American Football League.

The rivalry has been filled with historically significant contests, including their very first match up. On September 11th, 1960, the Houston Oilers defeated the Raiders 37-22 in the first game of either franchise’s existence.

The Raiders currently hold a 28-20 advantage in the series, including a 4-0 mark against the Titans in postseason play. They have met in an AFL Playoff Game (1969), an AFL Championship Game (1967), an AFC Wild Card Game (1980) and most recently the 2002 AFC Championship Game.

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – Following a thrilling victory on the road last week, the Tennessee Titans (1-1) return home to face the Oakland Raiders (1-1) this week. Kickoff at Nissan Stadium (capacity 69,143) is scheduled for noon CDT on Sunday, September 25th.

This week’s game will be televised regionally on CBS, including Nashville affiliate WTVF NewsChannel 5. Play-by-play announcer Andrew Catalon will call the action alongside analysts Steve Tasker and Steve Beuerlein.

The Titans Radio Network, including Nashville flagship 104.5 The Zone, will carry the game across the Mid-South with the “Voice of the Titans” Mike Keith, analyst Frank Wycheck, gameday host Rhett Bryan and sideline reporter Jonathan Hutton.
