Tennessee Consumer Affairs says EMV Credit Card Technology arrives ahead of ‘Black Friday’ Holiday Shopping
Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance’s (TDCI) Consumer Affairs Division reminds Tennesseans to be aware of changes in credit card technology as this holiday season will be the first year retail stores will be required to become compliant with EMV credit card technology.
EMV (which stands for Europay, MasterCard and Visa) is a new global standard for cards equipped with computer chips and the technology used to authenticate chip-card transactions.

Nashville, TN – The American Red Cross is helping people in Arkansas and several other states affected by Sunday’s devastating tornadoes.
More than 200 people spent Sunday night in shelters in Arkansas that were opened or supported by Red Cross workers. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau orders American Express to pay $85 million refund to consumers harmed by illegal credit card practices

Washington, D.C. – The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) today announced an enforcement action with orders requiring three American Express subsidiaries to refund an estimated $85 million to approximately 250,000 customers for illegal card practices.
