Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – While there isn’t officially a play-in game to the 2012 Ohio Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Championship, Austin Peay and Southeast Missouri will square off at 5:15pm, Saturday in a game that will emulate a play-in affair in every way possible.

The Lady Govs and Redhawks enter the regular-season finale tied for the final spot in the eight-team field with the winner of Saturday’s contest earning that spot while the losing squad will see its season come to an end.

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay returns home to start a two-game home stand when it hosts second-place UT Martin in a 7:00pm, Wednesday contest. The Lady Govs will seek to end their current six-game losing streak, which they saw extended courtesy a 69-60 loss at Southeast Missouri, Monday.

The Skyhawks have won four straight and will visit Clarksville fresh off a 105-90 victory against Tennessee State, Monday. Both teams will be playing their third game in five days in what has been an five-day quadrangular between APSU, UTM, Tennessee State and Southeast Missouri. Austin Peay has won its last eight home games against UT Martin, the Skyhawks last win at the Dunn Center coming during the 2001-02 season.

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay will play the first of four consecutive solo contests when it travels to Southeast Missouri for a 7:00pm, Monday contest at the Show Me Center. It will be a matchup of teams currently ninth (APSU) and 10th (SEMO) in the OVC standings.

Both teams bring five-game losing streaks into Monday’s contests after each lost Saturday outings – Austin Peay 82-77 to Tennessee State while Southeast Missouri fell to UT Martin, 88-47. Austin Peay has won the last six meetings in the series, Southeast Missouri last downing the Lady Govs during the 2007-08 season at the Show Me Center.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Basketball starts second half of the OVC against Tennesssee State Lady Tigers

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay will start the second half of its Ohio Valley Conference schedule against Tennessee State in a 5:15pm, Saturday contest at the Dunn Center. Both teams have struggled since opening the OVC schedule against each other – Austin Peay sits in ninth place one game behind eighth-place Tennessee State.

The Lady Govs have lost their last four outings, including both ends of last week’s road trip through Illinois. The Lady Tigers went 1-1 in their two contests last week, including an overtime home win against Morehead State. Tennessee State won the OVC opener between the two teams, 95-81 on December 29th, in a game that saw Austin Peay whistled for 32 fouls which led to 48 TSU free throws.

Bussabarger and Hanley carry Lady Govs to win at SEMO

 

APSU Women’s Basketball

Austin Peay State University GovernorsCape Girardeau, MO – Sophomore Meghan Bussabarger scored a career-high 20 points and Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team won its Ohio Valley Conference opener, 65-57, at Southeast Missouri, Thursday night at the Show Me Center.

The Lady Govs (2-6; 1-0 OVC) led from the outset, but it was a test of resiliency down the stretch. A 10-point, 51-41, lead was whittled down by the Redhawks (2-5; 0-1 OVC) with a 10-0 run to tie the game at 51-all with 5:09 to play.
