Austin Peay Lady Govs Soccer hosts Lipscomb Tuesday

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team continues its four-match home stand, 7:00pm, Tuesday, when the Lady Govs play host to Lipscomb at Morgan Brothers Field.

Austin Peay (2-1-0) used three second-half goals Friday night to topple Appalachian State in the Lady Govs’ home opener. Junior forward Andy Quiceno netted the game-winner, her second in as many games, while junior Tatiana Ariza assisted on both the game-tying and game-winning goals. Ariza was named CollegeSportsMadness.com Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for her efforts.

Five different Lady Govs score in soccer shutout at Lipscomb

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – An atypical Thursday night game turned into a shutout win for Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team, 5-0, against Lipscomb, at Cofer Chapel Field.

Five different players scored as the Lady Govs (6-2) battled to overcome last weekend’s lost at South Alabama. Austin Peay – the nation’s highest scoring team – ran like a well-oiled machine against the Bisons (2-5-1), scoring two first-half goals and finishing with three in final 45 minutes.

Port City Classic opens long road trip for Lady Govs soccer

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team takes its show on the road for the 10th Annual Port City Classic, in Mobile, AL, beginning with a 4:30pm, Friday match against Troy, before facing host South Alabama, 2:30pm, Sunday.

“We’re excited to play in this event,” head coach Kelley Guth said. “It’s always good to play a couple of good teams because that’s what helps us prepare for the conference season. We matched up against Troy last year at the Trojan Classic and we’re excited to play them again.”

Arrendondo makes fifth signee for Lady Govs Soccer

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team has added another striker for the 2011 season in Melanie Arrendondo, of Madero, Mexico. Arrendondo is the fifth signee for the Lady Govs, joining Frankie Carbajal, of Jackson, TN; Bianca Melito, of Dallas, TX; Claire Pultz, of Albuquerque, NM; and Taylor VanWagner of Knoxville, TN.

Lady Govs soccer adds four to 2011 roster

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team addressed issues with depth in signing four players to National Letters of Intent, head coach Kelley Guth announced Friday.

Frankie Carbajal, of Jackson; Bianca Melito, of Dallas, Texas; Claire Pultz, of Albuquerque, NM; and Taylor VanWagner of Knoxville will join the Lady Govs 2011 pursuit of a Ohio Valley Conference title.

Carbajal, a 5-3 midfielder/forward, scored 54 goals and had 29 assists at Trinity Christian Academy. She was named all-district four times, all-region twice and was her team’s Most Valuable Offensive Player four times. Carbajal, who had eight hat tricks in her final two years, also was a two-time Jackson Sun All-West Tennessee Selection. She played club soccer with the 93 Lady Lobos, of Collierville, for four years as well.
